Someone randomly added me to "socialize" with other people. The steam profile was full of cliche "girl gamer" stuff, even with a link to a Girls Clan, full of members from the US and no signs of herself. As avatar, the person used the profile pic of moxie rawr. I googled the picture and it turned out to be the profile pic of a twitch streamer and youtube gamer girl named moxie rawr. But the scammer was pretty quick to ask me to buy a game for "her". But look for yourself. :p

Honestly, after she said "19:50 - Scammer: I am in vacation to my grandparents and is boring here, so I `ve added some friends to socialize" I would have answered "This is not fucking Facebook!", deleted here and blocked here. She is hot? Well, I'm hotter!

I'm ashamed that I didn't even notice too many emoticons in that chat... WHAT HAVE I BECOME?!!1 :3 QQ T_T

also, I can't help but wonder what excuse it would make for not being able to send you money for CS:GO, if you agreed to buy it for it.

I mean yes it's probably (let's say certainly?^^) a scammer but I thought about what i would've done. I mean the first line is almost a pick-up line (i hope that's right, translate gave it to me) but I think as long as "she" would've gone money first I had no problem buying a game for someone... (maybe clear me up?)

He googled this "broken english" scammer's profile photo and found out it's an American streamer, he asked "her" (let's call it a her shall we?) if it was her in the picture and the scammer said "yes", which is obviously a lie. So yeah, pick up line...

How can you be sure it's a scam ? She offered to trade for the game.

User claims to be from Crete. Profile picture (which user states as being "her") is of a blogger who resides in the US. User logs off immediately when he/she is rumbled.

What part of "not legit" are you having an issue with here?

You guys assume a lot.. she got rumbled.. really ? How about she could have gone off coz she had to or dinner was ready. How would you know if it was moxie rawr or someone else impersonating her (using her avatar isn't much proof of anything). Who says her grand-parents don't live in Greece and she was mentioning she was there then and not from where she's really from. I don't see any part of the chat implying she was trying to scam.. you can call her not legit, a liar or simply shady but where is there a scam in that exchange ?

Actually, there's something fishy about the whole Greek thing.
As I said in an previous post, those 2 statements are not valid for Greece:

19:58 - Scammer: you`re right, a lot of good games are unavailable here
19:59 - Scammer: there cs:go is available?

Obviously, the "scammer" has no clue about what's going on in the EU2 Steam's zone.

I AM calling "her" a liar, because he/she is. It's blatantly obvious from the exchange that this wasn't Moxie rawr. Said blogger isn't from Crete. You can bend the words until they look like pretzels, but it's obvious what he/she was saying.

Why would you trust anyone who is a habitual liar? When introducing myself for a trade I wouldn't offer up a heap of irrelevant information. "My name's Atomic Woodchuck from Waikikamukau, New Zealand. You may recognise me from my role as Bill in Left4Dead". What bearing does that have on the trade? Even more to the point, why would I offer up a load of lies? "My name's Barbara from the Barbary Coast. Bad Rats isn't available in the Steam Store here. I'm feeling hawt just thinking about you. Any chance we could trade, big boy?". It's a false backstory designed to engender trust, and anyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size can see where this is going.

While it's never possible to ever be 100% sure in these situations (hell, maybe one of the emails I got today really IS from a Nigerian prince...), I'd run from this trade like Forrest Gump on Turinabol...

You can write 10 paragraphs on your next answer it'll just make it even more funny how you get on your high horses over this..

Fact that he/she would lie doesn't make him/her a thief.. could just be a 10-13 year-old with no confidence. He/she offered to send money first.. when's the last time a scammer sent money first to get a game? I never said the deal should have happened or that he/she was 100% trustworthy.. I said calling that a scam is excessive.

You could write 100 paragraphs for your next reply, but it wouldn't change the fact that this user is clearly about as legit as a fourteen dollar note.

Sorry to disappoint.

On an unrelated note though, please add me on Steam. I'm representing a recently deceased relative of yours, who has left you a large amount of money. My legal team and I just need a small amount of additional information in order to release the funds.

Look forward to hearing from you :)

All the fucking time. It's called a chargeback scam.

It does not smell like a scam. Some people from time to time ask me to do the same thing. As long as they pay me first, I am more than willing to help.

Just last week I helped some gamers buy Origin Humble and they paid me in TF2 keys.

I don't know, to me she may have sounded shady but maybe she was being honest...maybe I'm being naive xD. What's really funny is that the Ytuber MoxieRawr just uploaded a CS:GO video about 17 hrs ago. Was your conversation with this scammer before that?

It was before, yes. But moxierawr already has a lot of CS GO videos on YT. She's also streaming GO on twich sometimes.
