I was just browsing through SG people's profiles to build up my original whitelist after my last event and the temporary one when I stumbled upon KeeperOfMonsters' profile and discovered that "permabanned" tag.

I'm shocked!!

The last post from her was 17 hours ago, so this is still fresh it seems. I always noticed her as a very valuable and active member of our lovely community here. I can't believe this. She can't even say goodbye. Anyone else sharing that feeling?

(I hope this thread is not perceived as calling out, if so let me know, I'll close it, but I had to express my shock somewhere).

Pretty much what Delta said, also would like to ass, being banned can result of being an ass hole. I don't know the person, but maybe they or their kids were mistakenly an ass to a mod or something.

You have to fuck up pretty bad to get permabanned on SG.

Doesn't seem likely, or I would already be banned. Hrmm....

In before the lock from admin, with no explanations, because administrative decisions regarding bans are not public.

I think many of us know exactly what happened just based on a little detective work today. This thread isn't trying to a get a response from support, but mourne the loss of a member of our community. Anybody who wants further details will have to ask her. I've only been here a few days and I was pretty shocked about the whole thing too. I definitely thought this was a joke thread with a giveaway inside at first, we've had a lot of ridiculous threads these past few days.

"No calling out" is a long-standing SG rule. They can't tell you what someone did, you have to find out for yourself (and keep that information to yourself).

It's frustrating, but there are reasons for this rule.

Easy to get perma ban. Takes one bad day for you get perma ban. Just one incident that may piss you off and make you do something that's against the rules for example if someone I told to stop begging on forums suddenly -rep me saying I added him and tried to scam him on my birthday I would not hold back I say tons of shit to them(4 months still waiting for support :( since all adds from users are recorded in activity and can be seen by friends even if they delete them as friend).

Sometimes users want to and literally asking support for removal/permablock their accounts. It may be something based on random life situation, personal and rapid decission or an attempt to break the burdensome habit (site/forum/community). Of course that are just examples of reasons to ask about that.
Seen that a few times.
My strongly suggestion to not diggin around that in public forum, just in case.
Just saying. :)

Just can't see many users do that unless they got hacked by someone and had their account info stolen since seen a few legit people start spam stuff even though they were high level in contributor and had tons of games.

my advice is really general. if someone is curious what happened and that person knows her personally, contact via steam is better way imo.

Having had a few "friends" go among the "missing", I have to say that it is one of the most disturbing things about the interwebz... :-( I didn't really know KoM, though I sent her an unrequited Steam friend request... This ban - well it feels like another type of body blow... Meh, guess I won't be coming our of my giftage hermitage afterall... you guys can be brutal to us mothers :-(

CG, I am looking at you for an explanation - you need to send a mod in here to provide an explanation for this "event".

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

First off, cg doesn't answer to you or anyone else and doesn't need to provide an explanation for anything he does.

Second, get off your high horse.

Finally, less than two minutes of research and you can find exactly why the perma-ban was instituted. There are only three ways to get it, read those three ways and it becomes very easy to spot.

High horse? Kettle = pot much? Seriously, if you know so much then just effing say it - some of us have jobs and lives and we don't live and breathe SG lore. We expect owners of web-sites to respond occasionally (instead of being the Great and powerful OZ), when crap like this happens and to explain wtf they expect their forum denizens to act like so it can actually benefit the forum in general instead of being some effing mystery or Joan of Arc story.

Yeah, get off YOUR high horse travathian and speak something besides more "SG-speak" :-p

Try reading the rules. This is why no one is saying what happened

"Use the appropriate avenues for support. If you have an issue with another user, submit a ticket with a user report, rather than calling them out within the community or on the forum."

Why would support or cg need to explain anything. The rules are clear. If a user breaks a rule that has perma-ban as a punishment, that is what happens. Again, you demanding they explain comes off as dickish and high-horsey.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well I don't personally have a dick - though I admit that I truly enjoy the one that resides on the person I adore :-p But if I had one, I'd totally be dickish... As to high horsey, hmm that might be fun if I owned one of those - but I have it on good authority that keeping a horse is expensive and one needs a lot of land - not really feasible in an apartment. So could you just say exactly what rule was broken to those of us minor-SG-peons that have worked 50 hours for another lord that pays us and keeps us in bundle games but don't speak SG?

Oh and for the record - I don't see you making "you're a dick/high-horse" commentary to the many other upset commentators... perhaps you just specifically target the obvious women - yes or no? Especially those that admit it...

Seriously - if you have some actual input then just share it. Stop being exactly what you are calling me :-p

Yeah it's pretty obvious WHY one might get permabanned, what most of us don't get is where this alleged evidence of KoM's rule-breaking is

By mistake, do you mean like an accident? If so, I agree. Some people do legitimately break the rules on accident because they either didn't read the rules or didn't understand them. Only one of the permaban rules, multiple accounts on one IP, can really be an accident dont you think?

See, but a witchhunt implies we are looking for a witch to burn.

The witch has already been burned, people just want to know why.

If it were a tempban, might be calling out. But a permaban? Those dont happen on accident, and the user isn't ever coming back. The purpose of the rule is to avoid witchhunts, so that we dont embarass/hurt/shame someone who might be innocent. The hunting is over, the witch is toast, I don't see why discussing it should be against the rules.
