I want more free games in steam, but unfortunately, very few of them, especially simulators and racing.TF2 certainly a good game, but among the fps very much competition, and for the most part it paid better. That would be some race as popular as tf2.

would totally love that - but sadly the only racing/driving F2P that i've tried are less than terrible
Need for Speed World just makes me want to play Burnout Paradise instead - Live to Race (i think that's the name) seemed promising but I lost interest real quick
A good racing sim F2P would definitely put a smile on my face but i'll look for it when i see it, not holding my breath and have more than enough racing goodies to play with already
EDIT: ok, never mind - there's this - Steam page
or "dammit why won't this work..." one more time
RaceRoom W T FFFFFFFFFFF forget it the dame link will NOT work - game.raceroom.com
it's from SimBin - all I need to know... ☺

Thats actually not true. And if you had an idea for how the business world works, you would know that they would go bankrupt without any way of earning money. Often purchasable's are benefits for those that want to support the developers. Oh, and just a little tip... you can buy hats... but you can get hats without paying a penny...

Lotro (Lord of the rings online), DOTA2 are two that Ive punched alot of hours in. So they definitly can be.
Withthatbeingsaid - I own all BF games. And Ive played BFFree2Play and Heroes. Heroes is more fun but I wouldnt go out of my way to play them.. specially not over the retail games

I think games are good because they are made good, some f2p ones will be good, some buy ones will be good.
Not sure why this would determine quality of product. I mean some pay games are cash grabs(Hi CoD) just like some free games(Hi APB:Reloaded).

I think I mostly disagree. I actually started buying games because I was not satisfied with the F2P games. The community and overall gameplay. Unless they are short flash games and the like.
Of course, not all games you need to buy are good or have a great community. But there are some really strong titles on offer if you are willing to buy, which are much better than a handful F2P games in several ways.
Also, F2P always has a cash shop. In certain games that can make it unbalanced.
So overall, I prefer buying games over F2P games.

I don't really like F2P games, most of them are P2W and that's what I don't like. I'd rather like to buy a game for the full price and enjoy a whole game (although many AAA with DLCs are almost as bad as P2W games). F2P devs are after the money, they realized that people more likely want to buy some small things for a few dollars than to pay the full price for a game (and that also helps against piracy). When they wouldn't do it for money they also could also just release a whole game as freeware. Probably they are more focused on the gameplay because people won't buy things for a game that they don't enjoy. AAA games don't need to care as much about the gameplay because once people bought the game they don't need more money from them.

I don't know, maybe when it's a free game, you expect nothing from it and when you pay money, you're expectations are higher and even high as Everest and usually it's not as good as you imagined it would be, so you get angry/confused/disappointed and are writing such posts. I played many free games as well as payed. And now I can say - if you do not expect much, you get a lot!

It depends by the game... i would never change an unreal tournament or a quake for a free to play, but there are lots of game that cost money that sucks.
Then you have to admit that most of the f2p games are pay2win... and i don't really like games where someone has more chance to win.

TF2, Blacklight Retribution, Planetside 2,Hawken, Dota 2, LoL, Arctic Combat, District 187, Blackshot..
Those are FREE games 100 times better than the bullshit indie games that every single developer is making and posting one on steam for $4.99-$9.99,and again, its FREE, so even if they fail atleast you got them for nothing, while if you paid for a game you're not sure you will like it or not.

Haven't played most of the free to play games, but I'd add one more vote for Team Fortress 2. It's not a great f2p game, it's a great game period. I've played it for a ridiculous amount of time, and am still just as useless as when I started. :)
It's a lot of fun, even when the whole team wishes I'd go play for the other side. :)

Is it me or are the Free to play games way more fun than the games you pay 60 bucks for..
I think people that make free to play games are more focused on the game instead of the Money.
I got like 300 games on my steam and i'm still playing more F2P games than the games i've bought.
What are your thoughts about this?
