Have you got this before?
Welcome to ESET. Some people still maintain they are a good security company just because Nod32 used to be the best AV over a decade ago. In reality, they are the new McAffee: zero work, lots of marketing and lobby to push stuff like this, their "partnership" with facebook.
The good news is that the online module won't install anything (apart from a bunch of junk in AppData or somewhere more obscure).
And yes, it is next to impossible to remove if you use the desktop edition.

I'm pretty happy with NOD32 Antivirus 9 myself.
I had too many problems with Norton, and after that mcAffee. Switched to nod some years ago and my pc and laptop have been clean since, without any impact on performance.
I checked it out because it was recommended by a Dutch independant agency (consumentenbond) that year.

If you go commercial and Norton was too heavy on the system, then buy Kaspersky or BitDefender. Sadly, ESET products are good for a nice laugh, and that is about it. When the competitor's reports have detailed research on the latest malware and yours is about month-old facebook scams, you know that there is some trouble there…

nah I clean regularly with Malwarebytes. It haven't detected any malware.

Got it last month I think. On my PC. I knew it was a bit improbable that I had malware because my PC is new and I have an anti-virus, plus I'm also pretty careful with what I download/install/click on, so that's that. It was also pretty weird that it would appear on the regular Chrome window, but not on Incognito. Tried removing my extensions, still appearing. Tried searching for solution, didn't work. It wouldn't stop until I just gave up and downloaded it. ;A; Removed it afterwards of course. It's all good and not on my PC now.

AVs by nature integrate deep within the OS. This is why they usually require a removal tool made by the company itself. (This is why on Win9x and for a long time on WinXP an AV software change pretty much meant format + system reinstall.) But with some of the shittier ones like ESET, even that may fail horribly. At least now it doesn't remove critical system files like McAffee – or was it Panda? – used to do.

People still use facebook? I'd rather have a REAL book, thank you.

Imho you are completely incorrect.
Your computer totally is infected by some kind of malware and trying to force you to download "Eset" which is not an Eset at all but a phished software full of another malware.
As for people talking shit about Norton and Eset - Norton is one of the best protections nowadays. Personally I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security.
You can check AV tests there - https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/

So today when I tried to log in to FB from my Firefox, I got this weird and scary message that my pc is full of malware. Clicked next and it asked me to download and run ESET Online and then only I'll be able to log in.
Googled a bit and saw this have happened with some other people too and its pretty hard to remove ESET later on as it doesn't appear under programs. So tried the blunt way, removed all cookies and cleaned my Firefox with CCleaner (had nearly 500 mb of cache, over 2 years of stuff) and voila, no more warning that my pc have malware. Infact I logged with a new browser before cleaning firefox and I could log in without trouble.
i think its a ruse to make us download their partner ESET's antimalware which may do even more harm than good. If it happens to you, just clean your browser thoroughly.
EDIT: Fixed image link.
