So I love the 2 witcher games, and Im reading the books, which are pretty awesome so far (Ive only read The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny - A little Sacrifice - man the feels in that short story... Im reading Blood of Elves now). Id like to purchase a GoG version of Witcher 3 GOTY, but I`m not sure which (if any) key re-sellers are legit, and if that money will go to CDProjekt Red. Since I cant pay the full price that is on GoG right now, I was wondering if you guys can help me with some legit alternatives, cause I wanna support the devs, at least in some way.

Not a spoiler : "Right before the dawn, while it was still dark, a hungry, vicious werewolf crept up to their camp, but saw that it was Dandelion, so he listened for a moment and then went on his way" Sword of destiny

EDIT: haha my first blacklist yay. Someone was annoyed/offended by this post. :D

I played the new order, it was cool. Just recently played the Return to Castle Wolfenstein - bloody hell that game can be frustratingly hard with the mod and difficulty on hard (not impossible)

It looks like you used the backtick [ ` ] instead of an apostrophe [ ' ] (notice how it's around your contractions), so it formats it as "inline code".
If you still want to use a backtick you'll just need to add a backslash just before it: [ \` ]

I've honestly always used the backtick, haven't even considered anything else. Thanks for bringing that to light lol (not sarcasm)

If you can't pay the full price on GOG, just wait for one of their sales and get it there, it's the best place to get it if you want your money going to CDPR.

There really are no legit alternatives bar looking for someone that has it cheaper on Steamtrades or something like that. If you're in a hurry thats going to be your best bet unless it goes on sale somewhere. You could try looking locally and see if a store has it, as all the boxed copies are GOG.

It goes on sale very often, so either wait for a sale or look into going through a high rep reseller.

What was said above. I thought I bought this at a steal on winter sale, but the price has since gone even lower. if you can make it to the next seasonal deal, it's sure to be on sale again.

I agree with others, just wait for a sale and purchase directly from GOG.

Also, GOG is actually owned by CD PROJEKT so you'll really be supporting them by getting the GOG version.

Enhanced Steam is good for checking best price now for multiple games etc as well, ITAD would work best for this, but it wouldn't solve the other part of the equation....where the dollar dollar dollar goes.

The GOG version is only sold at GOG. GOG only has "keys" when someone purchases a gift copy from them. The only time I ever know of GOG itself handing out keys externally was when they did a Humble Bundle.
In other words, as the others have said, wait for a sale there, that is all you can do.

All 3rd party re-sellers (except Steam, of course, and maybe Origin) sell gog keys. Physical copies also include a gog key.

I got a Witcher 3 GoG key from Amazon when there was a price glitch a while back - they still sell GoG keys although they don't have a sale on at the moment.

GMG also briefly sold Witcher 3 GOG keys - but it turned out they bought them on the grey market somewhere and it turned into a thing...

Here's the list of games that can be activated on GOG from product keys: https://www.gog.com/reclaim
Reclaim was GOG's predecessor to Connect, and only really differs in not having a limited time-slot for the linking process.
In other words, it was a retroactive GOG-activation allowance, in the same manner that Connect is, rather than actual GOG keys being sold off of GOG.com.

I'm fairly sure that the Witcher games are the only GOG-activatable games that were ever released outside of GOG's own storefront. Flip side, as oginer noted, all copies of the game not sold directly on Steam should provide GOG keys. Given CD Projekt's aim to emphasize GOG, they'll likely take a similar marketing approach with their future game releases.

How much are you going to pay for this game ? In my local online-shop it cost 18,80 euro [game and 16 dlc] , and the lowest discount was 15 ?

Thats quite low. The lowest I`ve heard was around 19 I think during some really heavy discount promos. Id pay up to 25 euros for it so it wont be a problem when it goes on sale again.

You can check something like allkeyshop.com if you want a reseller, but supporting the dev directly is a different story, those people must have bought and paid for it in a deeper sale, so the dev should have gotten paid already.

Can you move this to General/Off topic and leave Deals for when people who share Deals which are being offered?

Amazon sells them If you can use that though the price is hit and miss and usually better deals can be found on the console versions.

Humble Bundle does and they should be having a late Summer Sale coming up toward the end of Aug/Early Sept..If you are sticking to 100% official then Humble, Amazon, GOG is the only options and then waiting for a sale or paying full price.

Could you not buy it when it goes on sale on Steam & then just get it through https://www.gog.com/connect https://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/GOG_Connect once they release it through there? I am guessing some money goes to gog/cdprojeckred when you buy witcher games through steam?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sure yeah if it ends up being on sale on steam and for less that it is on GoG, but Id rather just get it on GoG/humble bundle cause more cash goes to them plus you get the soundtrack and other random stuff that isnt really important but is nice.

Steam leaves the developer with a 70% cut of any game sold on it (as do Amazon, GOG, GMG, and most other retailers). Humble Store leaves developers with a 75% cut (and 10% of that reduction is to charity rather than to Humble), so it's generally a somewhat more preferable option when intending to support a developer [>>]. Of course, given that GOG and the Witcher series are owned by the same parent company, paying direct to GOG is certainly the preferable option if support is intended.

GOG has thus far indicated they aren't going to do any sort of linking for Witcher 3 as they did for Witcher 1/2, so buying from Steam is going to be a rather uncertain approach to getting a GOG copy of the game.

When I was reading stuff yesterday I found out they did allow you to get a gog copy if you bought on steam, but honestly Id rather get it on sale on gog, (for this particular game since it is a single player) also cause Steam monopoly isnt healthy, and if someone consistently shows their goodwill, I think you should support them if you are so inclined, but thats just my perception of GoG. If GoG had some of the newer MP games that I play and more people played on it I wouldnt have any problems shifting from steam to it.

When I was reading stuff yesterday I found out they did allow you to get a gog copy if you bought on steam,

They only let you redeem Witcher 1 & 2 on GOG, and only Witcher 1, 2, and Adventure Game have been available on GOG connect. Since GOG expressly indicated they weren't going to be allowing a link feature for 3 as with the previous games, it'd be of note if that had changed. Definitely not something you should be basing any expectations on, in any case.
After CD Projekt releases their next game, they may be more likely to change their stance on the matter, but Cyberpunk 2077 isn't scheduled till 2019 to 2020- so there may be a bit of a wait on that.

you can get it on GoG sales, it gets as cheap as on Steam, or even more... also, if you wishlist it on Humble Bundle they will tell you when there's a sale for the title on the Humble Store, they sell the GoG keys in the Humble Store...

if you want to fully support the devs, buy it at full price from GoG.

if you want a cheaper way to give devs some money, trade a key or buy it from the store when it's discounted on steam/gog.

if you really want to play the game, just download it.

How often did you point that out when anyone on forum was mentioning porn, sex, etc.?

Because I don't see any piracy materials (links, directions)! We all know how to download stuff in internet, or do you imply there are users who don't know about existence of piracy or porn etc. and you are protecting these from 'corruption'? That would be a tremendously 'busy', useful activity in internet.

that money will go to CDProjekt Red

Then buy from CDProjekt.Red not from a reseller.

Since I cant pay the full price that is on GoG right now

Why gog? Wait for the Winter Steam Sale.

cause I wanna support the devs

Then the only way is to buy it directly from the cd projekt red store http://thewitcher.com/en/witcher3

If you use steam, gog, reseller etc. you will not support the developer.

And yeah they`re a great company. :)
