Of course, this is a thing a lot of new users lately don't seem to have clear... You have to either have a key for the game redeemable ON STEAM, a HumbleBundle link for a key redeemable ON STEAM, or as a gift in your STEAM inventory.

And seriously - did you think the site would just spawn 3 copies of AAA game every time a new user joins and decides to be "generous"? ;p

Gifts aren't like enemies in video games, you know. They don't spawn, and when gone, respawned. :P

First time i visited steamgifts years ago,i thought you just enter giveaway and receave tha game.Tnx comments under giveaways confused me.

The first sentence under "create giveaway" says it all: "All gifts should be Steam redeemable CD keys or Steam gifts only."

Technically, you don't have to have the game in your inventory. You could wait until the giveaway ends, purchase it from the store, and send it to the winner through the checkout page.
