Seems very odd from what you're describing.
Never had that when i used Firefox.
And it locking to the point you need a manual reboot indicated this isn't just a website-thing but there's something fishy about your configuration.
Maybe you're running a lot of weird addons
Ever tried de-installing Firefox completely and reinstalling fresh?

Thanks for reply. No weird add-ons that I'm aware of. I keep my install pretty clean (although I do have the enhanced steam plugin but crash doesn't occur when on steam.) I'm going to just start accessing steamgifts from Chrome and see what happens. Seems like it might be related to the advertisements to me (maybe flash), but I'm not sure. I am running XP, so it could just be that my OS is getting too old.

Yes, that hits the nail pretty good ^^
BTT:Foxy here using SG without any problems.

I only notice it on steamgifts, but I do a lot of clicking when entering giveaways here, so maybe it's just due to frequency on this site.
Enhanced steam extension is installed on firefox. only other extensions are EPUBreader and Microsoft.NET framework assistant.
All plugins are set to "ask to activate" except OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc, and Shockwave Flash.

I understand, my first advice - try to turn off any browser plug-ins and see if it will happen again. If it happens again you will need to do some tests - start with memory and hard disk.
You did not have written what is your configuration, but if you can not update to Windows 7, why not try a Linux distribution - Ubuntu is very easy and you will quickly get used to most things.

I think its a mobo/gpu/memory problem. Try pass memtest and some stress tests programs...

So it's sounding like nobody else is having similar. Must be something with my machine. thanks,

I believe that Firefox 12 was the last version that was supported on XP, and that was released back in April of 2012. About a month ago, I was trying out a greasemonkey script (called SG2O) which added some nice features to the site, but it essentially "broke" about two weeks ago (likely due to some changes in the site's code), and would cause Firefox to crash on me. I'm wondering if those site changes are also affecting your older version of Firefox.

I'm running firefox v42, so that issue w/ XP could be something due to old age. Thanks, I'm changing to Chrome for now to see how that goes.

Are all your extensions and plugins up to date? Is FF itself up to date?

thanks for the ideas all. I'm going to use Chrome on steamgifts for now. I'll close discussion as it seems like it's gotta be something specific to my machine.

Hey all, I was just wondering if others have started having steamgifts crash their browser occasionally ? It only started happening to me recently maybe past couple weeks) and I use firefox mostly, but it is a hard crash requiring reboot that might happen once every day or so. The screen just locks up requiring manual power down of PC. Issue seems specific to steamgifts website.
So, question is: "Is just me, or are others experiencing similar?" thanks,
