It's a fun community, and occasionally you win stuff?
Also, what types of giveaways are you entering? How many entries do they typically have?

Well, I think you have the right idea. It just takes time. I have games that I've been trying to win for almost a year, and they almost always only have 200-600 entries.
If you want to get a game quickly, then buy it - SteamGifts is unlikely to get you that one game you want quickly. If you want to participate in a fun community, make others feel good through giving, and occasionally win a fun game yourself, then SteamGifts is the place for you.

What's the point about Steamgifts if you have that attitude, indeed...

How it "works"? It's just random, probability, nothing more nothing less. :P

Not talking about the mechanics, random factor in whatever IT-related topic is pretty clear to me, no need to discuss that, thanks. I'm more like, seeing a huge number people just taking and taking and taking while a much smaller number of people is giving, that's what changed my attitude about this site.

And yet you seem to be caring more about winning than giving. I'm not saying it's wrong to think it's unfair, sure there will be leechers, but in the end what you giveaway will rarely affect your chances of winning. A person who never gave anything away has just has much chance of winning a 100 entries giveaway than a person who gave away 500 games.
What you're saying is that you didn't think that people would just win without giving back? This is the internet, this is a gaming community where there are no rules about what you are allowed to win without giving. Of course people will be greedy. Not all of them, but really, it's to be expected anywhere, I don't understand why you'd think otherwise. Name one place on the internet where there are giveaways and nobody is being greedy. :P
Most of us give back to the community the best we can though. I'll admit that even me is somewhat of a leecher, I win a lot of great games and don't giveaway great things, but at least I try to do my best not to just take and never give. But most of the users, especially on the forum, care a bit more about the website in a community kind of way, so they tend to leech less and give more, in comparison to users who just mindlessly enter giveaways on the front page, rinse, repeat.
I suggest both increasing your level requirements in giveaways if that annoys you, and also maybe stick around the forum a bit more instead of the frontpage where giveaways is what everyone thinks about. The forum can be fun sometimes, we have puzzles, giveaway events, contests and such.

Well you obviously didn't succeed in making friends or in giving enough, so that you'd be able to join circles that would grant better chances to win. Unlucky 7 or private GAs would have been other options. But it seems you considered it wiser to seek confrontation. Good luck with that.

Well i know what you mean ;) But once you are at a high Level you will also Win more ;)
You could only create whitelist GA and avoid leechers ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Theoretically you could have joined 5000GA at Level 0 and now you pretend to Not Win anything xD
Or you are Just extremly unlucky :/
Comment has been collapsed.
You need to find groups whitelists and invite only GA then you will have more luck :)

Uhm, false. Three of the games I have given away here have never even been played, two of them only for very short time and only one was played a decent amount of time, showing me that I made only one person really happy. One out of 6. I could have used the other 5 to find someone to really want and enjoy the game, you know? Would have given me a much better feeling about it...

Man I know right where you are coming from. I once gave to the local food pantry, then followed this family home. Every once in a while I'll check up on them; and still to this day they haven't eaten that can of green beans I gave. Others may have wanted that can. So I can't sleep at night knowing how my gift went to waste. I won't give to any food pantries any more. Heck I even turned my lights off this Halloween.

Entering 1250 giveaways is really not that much. Especially when your level is not high enough. Look for invite only giveaways, keep entering, and I'm sure that your first win is just around the corner!
EDIT: I believe, I had my first win some time after I entered about as much GAs as you did. But that was like 2 years ago, and although I was just a lowly level 0 user, you generally had more luck back then simply because there were fewer people here on SteamGifts, so chances of actually winning something were higher.
TL;DNR: Do not give up, and keep entering those pesky giveaways!

I think that Wandererrr is absolutely right and, about your concern of bots...some months ago there has been a total wipe out of the users who used bots/scripts to enter GAs so even if the "phoenomenon" will never totally disappear it has probably decreased a lot.

Only script kiddies use scripts, real men are mad scientists with army of robots and totalitarian giveaway groups made for winning even more.

"Thank you, Archi. Thank you because I am joyful. Thank you because I am well. No matter how old I become, I shall never forget how we received Touhou Giveaways one year ago. Centuries will pass, and the generations still to come will regard us as the happiest of mortals, as the most fortunate of men, because we lived in the century of centuries, because we were privileged to see Archi, our inspired leader ... Everything belongs to thee, chief of our great giveaway group. And when the woman I love presents me with a child the first word it shall utter will be: Archi"

I love jigsaw puzzles. I win a lot of GAs with the puzzle section. Also, while I have won more games than I have given away, the real value of the games I have given away is higher than games won. I mostly giveaway non-bundle games and games I have played and love, and I win mostly garbo games no one wants, but I collect trading cards so I don't mind.

How to win gibs:
All else is up to RNJesus. You are not owned a win on this site. No one is.
For me, Sg has become an addiction. Something that I invest countless hours and dollars for peeps that I've met, the laughs that I've shared with them and the pointless memes I don't really understand.
That is why I'm still around.

I just like the vibe in here... also infos for deals and bundles... and somethimes something to laugh.
also i like to give away games from time to time

What's the point of Steam Gifts?
For me, it's giving away bundle trash games which I don't want for myself, to people who might actually enjoy them, without the hassle of trading.
Trying to win something is just a bonus, not the main reason to be here.
By the low number of your entries, I can deduce you're entering mostly public giveaways, those are full of bot/script users who enter everything.
You should try searching for invite only giveaways in this forum, and maybe trying to get into giveaway groups.
This one, specifically, seems to be the right group for you: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/6gm0n/unlucky7-a-group-for-those-that-won-7-or-fewer-games

"Contributed 6 games for nothing"
its not like give to recieve...
i won my first game after cca 1500 entires.... and 21 games in almost 4 years.... then can i see guys who won 7 games 3 weeks after registration...
its just "luck" or idk, but its bad feel when u see guy who sent 0 games and won 40 :D
just keep entering and its done

..............i change it later
beside isn't a meme always use capital?

I've contributed 6 games to this community, for nothing.
that approach is terrible on a site dedicated to gifting, unless your priority is getting free stuff instead. if that's the case, i don't see why you gifted games to others.
besides, ~1.000 entries is nothing in a site with 20.000+ active users.

I started winning when I started entering private giveaways through the discussions. My first ever win I was 1 of 5000 entries, but more recently my odds have been around 1 in 100. I appreciate these exclusive giveaways, but I also still make all my GAs public, blacklisting winners that have won a ton of games but given next to nothing.
I enter giveaways as a bonus, not really caring if I win (obviously winning is nice). Mostly I use this site for trades, though I do often give away games too.

I only enter Wishlisted items, have won six. Point is I come here, glaze over the forum (don't post a lot), enter giveaways through the handy Wishlist filter, and then carry on my day.
I also do giveaways if I have a key/link lying around that I don't want, and so I put it up here to hopefully give it to someone who wants it.
You seem to have a very selfish and bitter approach to this site by the way, friend. Maybe try to change your attitude a little. You are not OWED any of the giveaways you entered, and you shouldn't gift things to expect something in return.

I'm registered 4 days and won 2 games, so I consider myself very lucky. But honestly, I'm here for the riddles and nice infos about new bundles. I bought 60 keys for 3 dollar for a bundle I wouldn't have known about otherwise and already gave away half of it (here and to friends) and that's just the best feeling. My poor college student heart just cries in joy when I see good deals.
It's just pretty fun to be here.

If you haven't done it yet, I'd suggest you to look at the group I mentioned in the above comment, Unlucky-7.

Thanks, I'll think about it, but don't see myself as unlucky atm. :) Maybe a bit later.

I've been here for around the same amount of time and won 7 games, but honestly it isn't all about winning in my opinion. Knowing that you made someones day should be enough to continue on gifting (Even though leveling up to enter those higher giveaways with less people joining is a plus :3). I recently won Murder: Soul Suspect and I was surprised that it was a game that I actually enjoyed and that I ended up finding the time to play this game. Winning that game made my day/early morning which made me happy, so regardless of the fact that people may not be interested in the game, it's still a nice feeling to win every so often.(Unfortunately though you're not the one winning) Hopefully soon you'll win a great game! Even if the odds are 1 out of 13000, you still have a chance. Just a tip though, try and find a group that does giveaways I know that Unlucky 7 is a good one for people under 7 wins so you should consider visiting the thread.

I don't know. I've given away a lot of games that I really wanted and could have kept for myself, but I just like to give, so maybe that's my reason. ¯\(ツ)/¯

I'm here for about 5 months now, have participated 1250 GA's and didn't win anything. I've contributed 6 games to this community, for nothing. I've started looking up the winners of recent GA's I've entered, and as far as I'm concerend, there are 9 out of 10 people who've won much more than they've gifted, gosh there are people with 50+ wins each year... I've started blacklisting them, cause I have to consider them bots, even if they participate in discussions doesn't mean they don't use scripts to enter GA's. There's about 1 out of 10 person who has a - imho - realistic win rate, and an - again imho - acceptable won/sent ratio, who I whitelist immediatly (not that i'm ever gonna create another GA on SG).
So can anybody please explain to me: If you're a honest person who does not consider using a script to constantly enter every giveaway, what's the point of SG then?
