Best lan games for you

TF2 and Minecraft for me, since I don't remember playing on LAN in about 10 years.

Dungeon Lords was really fun, and actually playable with all the patching (mostly anyway, still kinda weird).

Any game is fun when playing LAN. ANY GAME.

Don't play in LAN or Virtual LAN that often, but here are few games that I have recently played or would want to play with friends:
Civilization IV - Beyond the Sword, Majesty 2, Terraria, Magicka, Command&Conquer, Warcraft 3, Sins of Solar Empire.. just to name a few.

If you're looking for a good racing game to have a LAN, then I recommend getting GRID.

The cracked one also works good ;)

Depends on what you mean by lan, as I see people have several different ideas.

Games that actually support lan: Far cry, Unreal tournament, Counter Strike, Starcraft and Age of Empires
Private server/virtual lan: Terraria and Diablo 3
Lan party: HoN, LoL, and I imagine when it comes out DotA 2
