Have the bans over this stopped/been reversed or something? Newest post in the linked thread is from July 3rd.
Wouldn't really make sense to ban Linux users when high ups from Activision Blizzard have stated their hesitations with Windows 8. Seems like Linux might get a bigger userbase if Windows 8 is as bad as AB and Gaben are saying. I'll probably end up using Windows 7 until Windows 8 is reformed into another fixed OS. Seems every other OS Microsoft releases is awful. 98 was okay, ME was bad, XP was great, Vista was bad, 7 is good.... Windows 8? The pattern points to bad. But people are getting more tech savvy and W8 may lose more people than before... Just my thoughts.

As I recall, it was a sensationalist title. Basically, linux users were banned...but not all of them. Same as windows, same as mac. Basically, if you cheated? you got banned, and someone tried to use their OS to claim that was the reason they got banned, and it blew up into one huge massive "fuck blizzard" bandwagon.

This is how I feel about the whole thing.
Out of all the people who got banned for using third party programs to bot and got banned for it guess how many will admit to doing it? The answer is most likely 0, I doubt you'll ever find even one person who said "Well you got me, guess I'll take my ban and wear it with pride". I guaranty everyone who got banned for botting blamed it on something else like their OS.
Now one thing I will say is a bit suspicious is how everyone else got banned except for the gold farmers. I think it's real convenient how the gold farmers were able to stay in the game from day 1 and bot unnoticed until the day before the gold section in the real money auction house opened. That I will say Blizzard is behind. Gold farmers split the profit of what they make from selling gold to stay in the game. They also now own the gold market even after the real money auction house started to sell gold because it's the farmers gold you're getting if you buy it. It was way too suspicious how the farmer got away with what they were doing but everyone else got caught and on the very last day Blizzard says "Another wave of bans went out and we got most the farmers" then the next day gold in the real money auction house is available.
They're behind it for more money. Why do you think botting still exists in WoW? After almost 10 years and they still can't stop them....or they don't want to stop them...
