My family had the opposite problem, we didn't realize until we saw/heard some kittens all laying together with her in a box in our back yard.

Look at that cute nose! It's also a boy... O.o

Keep the name. Therefore when you have guests over, they'll be confused and you'll have pranked them.

Too late :P
Also: Get out of my head! You'll be scarred for life if you stay in there for too long.

I don't really care much about what gender my pets are, I mean I've got a male mouse named Okurka which is a feminine noun in my native language and I use both he/him and she/her pronouns when I talk about him, female cat who is called Čičik which is a masculine noun and I use he/him pronouns and a female kitten who's called Baňaňa which comes from a masculine noun that means banana and I use both he/him and she/her... ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯

We once got a kitten from a family, who believed they had male cat named Felix. One day Felix got pregnant, so they had a few really cute kittens looking for a new home. They didn't change their cats name though. I wouldn't rename yours either, if he's got that name for a year now, I'd imagine you're pretty used to it. So just stick with it. People tend give their children all sorts of strange names. I don't think having a male cat named Jazmin is all that bad, especially since the name's pretty nice anyway.

Right, but in this case, she became a he. 😏 So we're going from Caitlyn to Bruce.

Yeah I got the joke :), it was just that we all know Caitlyn is trans and we all know what her dead name is so we don't have to misgender her anymore even for a joke. I think the joke would work without using her dead name

I'll just stick with Killer. That's gender neutral.

Her dead name will never be dead to me. I spent too much time seeing it on the cover of cereal boxes as a kid. It is burned into my memory forever. 😜

I understand that, it is difficult to get rid of old habits. But you can still try to not use it in some situations where other people will see it and where it'd take just a second to correct yourself. I think it'd be good for other trans people, me included, because misgendering and using dead names is a normal thing that happens a lot but it's still upsetting
EDIT: I didn't mean to hijack a thread about cats with trans stuff, cats deserve more attention than this stuff does :D

We have two female and one male cat...before that, we had two males. I loves me some kitty cats. :D
Of course, I like animals in general. I've had dogs, cats, turtles, fish, lizards, snakes...even water newts. I enjoy the critters. (。◕‿◕。)

The two females were sisters from the same litter, and we only intended to have the two...then my wife left for the vet with two cats and came home with three. 乁( ◔ ౪◔)ㄏ
The vet had a couple of litters of kittens there, and my wife and the kids fell in love with one of them...so we ended up with a "bonus baby." He's huge now, and his name is "Gibbs" (yes, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, for those of you who are fans 😏).

Next time, name your cat PAT...is it a boy, is it a girl? who cares, it's the good old androgynous PAT

It's easy to not notice when they're kittens, ever hear the phrase "His balls haven't even dropped yet"? Most mammals before a certain age have their testicles hidden away which makes it difficult to determine gender in small animals before 4-6 months when they descend. Of course, if they suffer from Chriptorchidism then it can be even longer that they get mistaken for females.

Yeah, what the title says. We received him from a friend almost a year ago, who told us it was a female kitten. We named her Jazmin (you could translate that to Yasmine, Jazmine, Yasmin, or something like that). Alright, two hours ago I took her to the vet to castrate her, and I just received a call from them, telling me that I should start looking for another name, because it was a male cat. So, yeah... I'm still pretty shocked. Anyways, should I still call him Jazmin or what? Any name suggestions?
