YES! I picked it up for the first time on the weekend, the first level is kinda difficult if your not use to it, yet gets you accustomed to the mechanics but after that you will find it pretty enjoyable seems well worth a play so far. The dated graphics i can put up with myself gameplay>graphics
Edit: if you have played deus ex:HR its essentially that but the graphics of half life 1 :p

Well if you don't mind dated graphics etc. and you can look past the AI, the gameplay is amazing and I loved that game to bits when I was younger. Mind I haven't played it in ages but I do remember playing the shit out of it years ago, imo it's worth a try =]

This shouldn't be a question, quite frankly, it's bordering blasphemy. It's widely regarded as one of the best games ever made, so should you play it? Here's your answer: http://i.imgur.com/2tRob.jpg

Don't listen to this, it's just more fanboi-ism. Deus Ex is just another one of those supremely over-hyped games like Half Life or Portal. It'll never compare to modern classics like MW3,BF3 or that new Syndicate game.

one of the best games ever made. up there with other Warren Spector related classics such as: system shock 1 and 2, thief 1 and 2.
from all of those, only system shock 2 would I consider better then deus ex 1.
if you are a serious single player gamer connosieur, you need to play it. simple as that.

Easily in my top 5 single player games of all time.

Grab the DirectX 9 renderer and the ENB pack to update the graphics to something a little less than twelve years old.

Edit: Ohh that link up there is better, go with that.
Still a fantastic game. The way the level design and the skill system go together is just...It's art, man. The dude who did the level design (Harvey Smith) is also one of the major dudes behind the upcoming Dishonored, so if that game is tickling your fancy, give the ole Deus Ex a try before hand.

Don't play this game at all. Unless you like having fun, and playing awesome games.
This game is a classic. Still holds up today. You need to play it. No explanation required, play it and you'll see.

FWIW, I got kind of stuck on the stealth test of sneaking past the guards to get to the exit in the tutorial. It's going to take some practice, I guess. It seems like an interesting game to me though, so hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

I recently purchased Deus Ex 1 as a giftable copy. I am torn between making a giveaway or playing it myself. It seems a bit dated as far as I can tell. So, my question to you is this; is this game worth my time?
