I wouldn't take this too seriously. Please, elbows, can't you do it on Sunday? It'll be Saturday evening for us Europeans here and it's a holiday day (we are celebrating witch's night and on top of that it's my birthday and I will be partying), so many people will not be able to witness this awesome event. I've been looking so much forward to it for a long time and now I'm already certain I will not be online to join in on the fun, and I noticed by reading through this thread that there are many people here posting the same/having other plans.

On Saturday night, the moment that Sunday comes, we're celebrating the Resurrection day of Jesus Christ, so most people will not be available. And I'm saying this, not because I'm the religious type (which I'm NOT), but because it's a tradition to spend that night with your family and I suppose that the same thing happens in most Christian countries. I even cancelled my plans of going out that day, because I prefer to be with my family. :P I'm not complaining, but I'm just saying what eeev probably meant to say. :P So, on Saturday is Jesus Epitaph and on Sunday is the Resurrection.

Sunday's the holiday, but it's honored from Saturday evening. Time zones will be a problem for Russian users, though. I'm from Bulgaria and it won't be such a problem, but ruskies might not make it. It's Easter in orthodox countries, if someone wonders.

but it's not the case of one or two or five countries. May 1st is national holiday / Orthodox Easter in over 100 countries worldwide. Sure - it's almost impossible to pick a day that no country nowhewre doesn't have some kind of holidays. But picking a day when a big chunk of countries worldwide have holidays may be a bad idea when you want people to attend. If you pick a day when 1/3rd of the world is celebrating something you're excluding 1/3rd of the community thus it's a good idea to post a poll about it in the mentioned community ;p

HG is a slow-chat event where a select group of people post and reply so fast that it looks like a chatroom, and it's all over pretty fast. :P

I'm from a part of the world where (inter)national holidays are just an excuse to not go to work/school and hang around on SG/Steam, so I have no idea how important Orthodox Easter is :/
It does look like labour day/may day is more important than Orthodox Easter. I'm only seeing a short list of countries that have it as a national day. Out of the 100 you mention only 20 countries have Orthodox as their main religion, in the rest it's a minority.

Even if you personally see it as an excuse to have a free day (I see them the same way) it doesn't change the two facts:
- There may and probably are other member who take these matters more serious, are religious etc.
- Even if we both take these as just free days the fact of the matter remains - not all people sue their free days the same way. You will simply be on Steam like you said. But a lot of people, even if they do not care why they take free day, theyy are not religious nor attending all national fares etc, will use free days to socialize. Because no matter your political/religious views the free day means most of your family and friends are having a free day as well. It means a lot more of community is more likely to socialize, visit their family, have a party with their friends, go on vacation etc than in any other day.
Sure, this event does not require attendance of community, but from elbows point of view, the more people attend his event the better. The more exposure etc. Keeping that in mind avoiding a date that will be one or other "skip-day" for big chunk of community is a good idea.

I've decided to delay it for one week.
Mini FAQ for why the delay:
WHY?~
Two reasons, Main reason is it seemed many people can't make it next week for various reasons, one being it being a Holiday in the EU or something(Sorry I am uncultured. D:) I normally advertise the event a little more, which I didn't this time. I like when lots of people are there. :3 Also I'm not completely prepared gift wise, the week seemed to zoom right by. I guess that's moreso 3 reasons.
But less people voted for a delay...
That is true, but I stupidly didn't add a Doesn't matter option. So my thought is most people said no because they want the event sooner, bot because they able to not attend. (Although I'm just assuming this. I could be quite wrong.) I imagine sadly some were able to make it this Saturday and not next Saturday. And for this I am very sorry. :(
When is the new date?
99% sure it will be Saturday May 7th because Sunday May 8th is Mother's day so I imagine. There is a small chance the time will change for when the event starts, but I'd rather not confuse people, so it will probably be at the same time to not confuse people.
