Games that have been localised from English language that use the abbreviation of "XP" for "experience", do they tend to still use "XP" or do they use something else? I know, for example, that Italian and Spanish games tend to use "ESP" or German games tend to use "EP" but I also heard "XP" is widespread enough that if you were to not localise "XP", everyone would still understand.

So would the general populace in gaming in these langauges understand "XP" as "XP" or would this cause a problem? What do you think, native speakers of these languages, based on your personal experience? Is it necessary to localise "XP"

I appreciate your help.

Edit: Thanks so much for the comments, this is very useful for me!

Is it necessary to localise "XP" (as in "expereince") in games for French/Italian/German/Spanish languages?

In Germany you would use EP for "Erfahrungspunkte" (=experience points).

But the English term XP is often used.

I'm from Germany. There's quite a few games that use "EP" but nowadays I mostly see "EXP".
XP is a abbreviation I haven't seen in German games in many years (at least not that I'm aware of).
I know that XP and EXP are kind of the same, but at the sametime they're not, either. xD
EXP looks smoother than XP, imho.

i’m only familiar with english, but i did notice the question in your thread title is the opposite of your poll question. the title says “is it okay to say XP in your language” but the poll says “do i need to translate XP to something else for your language” — i wouldn’t pay much attention to the poll responses since you can’t be sure which question people answered.

Never saw XP in a german game/translation personally, it's either EXP or EP.

I guess in every language you'll have people who want anything and everything translated. But when it comes to expressions like "XP" - and come on, everyone knows what "XP" means^^ - I really don't think it's necessary to translate them at all :)
