Nokkenbuer is the only person I've whitelisted and only because he's a pretty cool guy. He's got damn nice attitude, too.

They danced on rainbows (Put in notable effort to promote positive thinking), showed they were trustworthy, or just showed plain, simple, uncommon politeness and respect.

Of course, the Positive Thinking group has been a great way of artificially increasing my whitelist size- and it's been a pleasure watching how generous and fun some of the members have been willing to be :)

1) People I win a game from.
2) People that take the time to read my game descriptions and leave a comment (either about the description itself or something to add to my 'discussion').
3) People that bring something positive to the table - one of the 3 H's (Humour/Help/Herpes - ok, not so much the last one).

  • Who seems like a good person overall;
  • Saying something nice/supportive in forums, being nice/supportive to other people in forums;
  • If I realize the person doesn't have much money but still tries to giveaway when he can and be a good member, even with a "not that good" ratio or even a bad one;
  • People that giveaway a lot more than they win and they are still humble, nice people and don't act like they're better than others;
  • People who don't judge others by ratio without knowing the context of the other's life (unless extremely bad one, I mean, blatantly leeching);
  • Active people on forum that knows how to argue and be polite at the same time;
  • People who takes time to read, reply posts, be active on a discussion on forums even tho there is no link to giveaway in it;
  • People who whitelist me, If I remember them and I they seem cool.

There might be a lot more other reasons. I might whitelist someone for a lot of those reasons at the same time, or one of those alone could not be enough (or it could).

And this post just reminded me I'm owning my whitelist quite a bit. Some of the people that whitelisted me gives away so much nice things that I almost feel bad to giveaway something not as good, and I almost feel bad for being whitelisted by them. ;_;

To make it short, if they seem a bit extra friendly and nice, then I'll add them. But im getting more picky about it after my last train, since that's where 65% of my current whitelist came from :l

I whitelist alot. Mainly it started as effort to curate my giveaways when I got tired of winners who won so many games bit hardly gave anything away. I ultimately joined some groups which serves a similar purpose. Mainly I'm just trying to reward people who contribute alot to the community here/practice recipricosity.

  • When I enter giveaways I often check ratios, and will whitelist good ratios.
  • If I win somebody's giveaway I often whitelist
  • I'm fine with whitelisting lower level users with good ratios. I see many who join and give away a lot of games and don't win hardly anything for a long time. I particularly want these type of new sg users to hang around.
  • I also probably whitelist some people I run into in the forums.

And I do try to run giveaways for whitelists every couple weeks or so depending on what games I have available.

I whitelisted someone because they reminded me of my favorite person in the whole world - myself!

I whitelisted:

  • My friends
  • People who said something on the forums which I couldn't agree on more
  • The ones that solved my puzzle AND read the GA descriptions
  • Some people who I think are just really amazing by contributing so much to the community
  • People who made me laugh
  • If I ever had a meaningfull discussion with them and appreciated their input

There are probably a lot more reasons which I cannot remember right now, but those are the general criteria for making my whitelist :)

Three types of folks reside in my whitelist. The first is those who either promptly activated their gift from me and marked it as received, or those who promptly sent a gift to me from a giveaway I entered. The second is a bunch of people who answered questions I put in a few of my giveaway descriptions. And finally, the rest are folk who were nice enough to put me in their whitelist first.

Mostly friendliness and helpfulness. I had a chat with a chap yesterday, and our conversation went to Dragon Age games. He was very friendly and wasn't angry at me liking DA2 more than DA:O. That's a good example of friendliness.

  • People who consistently make high level GA's (regardless of their level) get whitelisted!
  • People who are kind, selfless, and generous deserve good karma and get whitelisted!

I usually whitelist anyone who I believe deserves the privilege, particularly those with whom I've had positive interactions. The majority of the users on my whitelist are those who I discovered whitelisted me, which typically automatically qualifies them. There are also some who I know from Steam or other sites; their personal relationship with me automatically qualifies them, as well.

For me, one's "ratio" is irrelevant; what matters are their behaviors, actions, and decisions. Their character and personality is also important, as are their beliefs and opinions, though I have whitelisted users with whom I strongly disagree simply because they expressed their views with couth and respect. My whitelist is infrequently used, but I make sure to whitelist users in case I ever get the opportunity to give something away. Strangely enough, it's easier to get on my blacklist than it is to get on my whitelist; however, I have more users whitelisted than blacklisted.
