When i create contributor giveaways, I make sure the user doesn't have illegal/fake giveaways... But I cant tell when they are all private giveaways. Can we have private giveaways show up the list of created giveaways on the user's page (after the giveaway closes or after marked received)? They don't need to be clickable. Will help the community report users abusing the system as well.

If anything, they should only contain the name of the game, not who won it or how many comments/entries it received.

Well, having # of entries will help community report users breaking the rules. If they have 20 private giveaways and all of them have 2 entries, that screams of an abuser.

... and knowing who won it would allow us to check if the game was really sent and received :S

I don't think there is any bot that checks if the game was redeemed.

I like this idea. Having the number of entries per giveaway could be a useful to see whether or not they're real. It doesn't fully prevent abuse, nor is every low-entry giveaway a fake one, but it can at least give an indication.

That and I can't really think of any way such a feature could be misused.

Maybe only when the private giveaway is finished. You know, when making puzzles and quizes, puzzle maker sometimes prefer not to reveal the prize.

Stated that in the topic and body ;) That's the exact reason I wouldn't show it on the page until its done.

I think he's just saying:

If you just want to prevent abusers, do long public giveaways.

If you want to reward contributors, gather names and use a randomizer.

The rest just seem like gripes to me.

In the future we will be dealing with fake giveaways cheating users automatically. Bundle games will be handled as well. Nothing to worry about other than that.
I think private giveaways are private for reason and no one should know what you have created, no matter what was the matter. Abusers will be punished anyway, so I see no problems to keep further privacy.

Private giveaways are so that only people you choose can enter. They aren't private so you can hide what you've given away, like it's something to be ashamed of. I just created a private giveaway for Soulstorm, and I would like for people to be able to see that I did so in the future, and not think that it was just some giveaway with one entry so I could enter contributor giveaways.

Giveaways with one entry don't give you contributor points, just saying ;)

I agree. Even if for a simple reason that doing changes to website that are not pure optimization takes time of admins (who are already swamped with work) and to be honest their time is better spent at eliminating slowdown/downtime causes (or even leisure time) before adding bells and whistles.

I already suggested with a support ticket to add an option in the "Create a giveaway" page to set the visibility state of a private giveaway when is closed. I didn't get a reasoned reply, but it was a "no".
