Colour me curious; I'm not out to make money for myself through the keys system and I'm not asking for advice or tips, I don't have the patience to play that game, I'm just wondering.

So I just traded a game for a bunch of keys, the game in question (in my native currency) costs £17.74, and I just traded a guy 7 keys for it, which totalled me to £10.15.

Am I missing something here? How is this guy profiting from that transaction? I'm puzzled.

what game it was? Some games cost less because of sale prices and region prices.

It was the Might and Magic franchise pack, which is currently on sale for £17.74.
But on the market I've never seen the keys sell for more than £1.50, so 1.5*7=10.5, still a fair way off 17.74, which is where I'm puzzled.

Usually people buy the games while they are on sale... So on a sale he may have bought it for less than that price. I love buying in keys because it's sort of like the best sale on the game, all the time.

Perhaps the seller bought the game with a discount or from Russian/Other country store, with a smaller price.

It's currently on sale, but the sale price is a fair way off what I paid in keys and even to sell the keys at the highest I've seen them go wouldn't be anywhere near the price in the sale.

The game is only ~£8 in the Russian steam store due to regional pricing. So the guy you traded with made his profit, but so did you by trading ofcourse ;)
