I'm currently on an old 2nd gen 16gb with 4.2.1 so I'm excluded from MANY of the apps I want to use(the Steam app for example). Getting a 3rd gen 32gb for $50 from a friend, and I hear the max is 5.1.1 which is sounding even more better to me after your results with iOS6. Results may vary ofcourse. I'm not too knowledgeable about the iOS and all that, so it is possible for you to downgrade since you said you've done it before? Try it again, see if it's fixed, if not downgrade again?

A solution would rather be, don't buy an iPhone rather than not buying Apple products. Also, as he already has the phone, and seems at least somewhat content with it, I'd say it's a somewhat unneccessary solution. Sure, everybody deserves their own opinion, but as long as the question isn't "should I buy an iPhone or not", I'm just sick tired of all this hate for Apple as soon as any of their products are mentioned. I don't say you're hating the company, it just gets alot of undeserved and immature hate (and love, to be fair)

not really no, think about the 4S having computing twice the power of a regular 4

still 3.0.0 on a 3GS full throttle here!
(sms fix thanks to cydia, no need of 3.0.1)

no, that is a bad idea, actually you should had stick to 4.3.3 as the hardware you have in a 4 is not fully prepared to run at full speed 5.x+ apps
(well, yeah, depends on what you do with it actually :D)

i'm Android user, so i don't know if that maps issue is already solved
(as for me that would be the impassable drawback)

You can download Google maps now so that's a moot point. Still, I stay away from iOS so I don't have such issues.

If you have the ability to downgrade at will, feel free to upgrade to 6.1. You can always go back later, right?

I have an iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1.1 and I want to upgrade to iOS 6.1, but I have one concern.
I upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 before, but the battery drain was so terrible, normally if I unplug my fully charged iPhone from a power source for a few hours, it'd go down to around 80%, but if it's on iOS 6.0.1, it'd go down to merely 20%.
iOS 6.1 was out some time ago, it was said to fix that problem for some users, but I fear this may not work for mine.
So, should I upgrade to iOS 6.1?
