Steamgamedeals is listing the Gamersgate S.T.A.L.K.E.R. promos. I asked Gamersgate support if these games were Steam activated, and they said no.

Does anyone have additional or contradicting info? I wouldn't mind adding Call of Pripyat to my collection, but only on Steam.

That list is for retail keys, Greenmangaming and GamersGate offer keys for tons of games that aren't on that list.

yes,but those keys are steamworks and therefor for steam anyway. Amazon sells steam keys that are non-steam,however,they clearly say when it is a steam key. I dont know about GMG,but the only Steam keys GG sells are steamworks. However,if the keys are on this list, you can activate them even if they are not steamworks.

Also "Retail/Digital CD keys"

I only posted because your wording made it sound like if it's not on the list, then you can't activate it. There are thousands of people on the forum, you should try to be clear and concise.

Steamworks is just an API that allows developers to add Steam specific features to their game, but many people refer to CEG as Steamworks as well. It should be pretty obvious that games with specific features relating to Steam would have to be on Steam! GamersGate doesn't only sell "Steamworks" games, they sell retail keys as well.

I think you're stuck in the mindset that retail stores have to be brick and mortar, but nothing says they can't be online. Retail simply means the sale of goods for use rather than resale so regardless of whether it's physical or digital, they're still retail keys. If that's not what you meant by stating that it says "Retail/Digital CD keys" then I have no idea.

Yes,thats why I choose the word "also",not just "Stalker is not on...". I think I was pretty clear saying that it won't work, while you just threw in that many keys that are not on the list are sold. Who is causing the confusion here?

CEG is part of steamworks,so I don't even know why you bring up that second point. Ofc GG and GMG sell retail keys,I was not the one saying otherwise, you were the one stating that the list is only for retail keys and GMG and GG sell a lot of games that are not on the list. So yes,why you brought that even up? I never said otherwise.

It is as I said,it either states "Steamworks" as DRM or the game has to be on that list.

I said "Retail,Digital CD keys" because YOU said "This list is for retail keys",making it sound that it does not work digital keys.

Most of their games aren't Steam, just like GreenManGaming. You can filter to only Steam games, though. Try this link. It is Steam games/dlc, sorted by highest discount. Only the red banner ones are discounted. As you can see, not many are discounted and they aren't great. If you only buy Steam games, that is a great link to keep handy. When they do run good sales, it is a quick way to tell.
