@ghenghis I dont know the problem from you and some other people too, i think you and most of the other that flame doesent pay something to steamgifts (donate). You use this site completly free AT ALL and game is game and shit... its free so you cant actually flame.

This has been suggested before, and is a terrible idea for many reasons. Such as legitimate keys, from IGN Prime, Amazon, GMG, and other such places. That would stop them. It would force people into using public profiles, some people like privacy.

To be fair though, exactly how is this a problem?
We can say that it gives people higher contrib value that they don't deserve. What does it mean to not deserve higher contrib value? What is the result of people with higher contrib value than they deserve? They get to enter more contrib giveaways. All this means is that people who are, by a certain standard, more "legitimate" contributors, have a decreased chance of winning games.
And then there's the slight possibility that this site might get into trouble with some bundles re their TOSes.
Is there anything else?

My posing the question was as a point of discussion, not as an argument. That said, it would seem that the first of said problems is merely about how people feel, and the second is unlikely to happen.
Not everything posted in the course of people wrestling with this issue is an argument from a partisan wanting a particular result.

I think you should search the forums and read the topics based on exactly this idea as well as the topics saying site suggestions should go under Support and not the public forums.
I mean, it's great you feel the need to help the community, but these sorts of suggestions have been made before (over and over and over and over again) and can be found by searching.

Why not implement a popup to the games that are in bundles like Selected game is a part of [bundle name here]. It's against the rules to post individual keys from bundles. Post a giveaway only if the gifted game is not coming from any bundle pack. ?

How about just reduce the points given for every bundle game permanently.

That's exactly what I said a week ago in a forum thread I don't remember now... like Ironclads Collection now ($50 steam value, but $1 Steamgifts value)

Yeah, it's definitely the best solution, I mean, if no one wanted the bundle games they would all have zero entries, and if the bundle organizers would not want extras to be given away they'd all be in a single key. I really don't understand why this has to be such a witch hunt.

If they "really" want to give away the "spare games" they have, they won't mind the low contributor value anyway. But if you wanna rise your contributor value, then just do a giveaway of games that never appeared in a bundle before.

It shouldn't be too hard to code an inventory check that could increase the value of a giveaway if it's a gift. But honestly, if you want to buy and give away a key of a bundle game then I guess just don't buy or give away one if you care so much about the contributor value?

Negative effects?
Buy 100x1$ Humble Indie Bundle 5. Have 700 gifts. Everyone would have it a thousand times and nobody would buy those games anymore.

But there are a lot of people who do not trade keys. This would disrupt Steam economy.

I appreciate your good intentions, ghenghis.
Next time use the search feature on the top right corner, however.
I'd hope that Valve would turn external keys into giftable items and bundles into single giftable items (or, at least, "mark" them as keys that come from a bundle), but that's up to Valve to decide.

The best solution (see my reply some comments above) is reduce the game value forever. Take for example Ironclads collection, it costs $50 on steam, but have $1 steamgift contributor value. Once a game appears in a bundle, reduce the value of the game to $1 forever. This won't stop the bundle-keys gifters, but at least their contributor value won't go up too fast. And will reduce the huge number of reports and tickets to admins and mods. I want to know your opnions, and sorry for my not-so-good brazilian self-taught english.

I think 1 month suspension would be the best solution.

Or perma suspension from all games included in any bundle

i think they should just ban those games for a short while

I don't really understand what constitutes a "bundle key." I understand that you buy a bundle on steam and it includes several games at an increased discounted. However, I didn't think that when you added this bundle to your inventory that it would separate individual keys (I have never done this, so I'm uncertain). Is that what we're talking about?
And if so, why is the downside of this? I'm sorry, I just don't fully understand the issue and would appreciate a well-written explanation from someone with the patience. Thank you =)

If this is possible it would be the best solution to this problem that I have seen so far. To give games on Steam Gifts one would have to make their gift inventory Public. When making a give away only items in your gift inventory can be given away.
Is this possible with the coding the site has now? Or is there a downside to this that I haven't thought of?
What do you folks think about this solution?
