So he created a GA for a game that he did not actually possess a copy of. Can't help but feel that this is somehow against the rules, even though it probably is not. Though people do buy directly from the Steam Store after their GAs end, but I feel like that's a different story from trading for it.

Nope, you don't need to have the game in your possession when you make the giveaway.

He tried to trade it to me already... so he does have the game. Maybe he wasn't aware you can send it other ways without the hold. So, I declined the trade and sent him a chat explaining how to do it. I will also put my message on the GA so there is a record of it.

Yeah, that's the way I've always done it, but I've had an authenticator for quite some time, so thought I'd ask here. I figured someone else who didn't have one could let me know if I'm missing something.

Sweet. Thanks, Mullins. Hopefully he gets my message and tries it another way. I was kind and friendly in my response, so I hope he doesn't take offense. :)

So, I recently won a game, but the GA creator says he doesn't have a device that can use the mobile authenticator so it's on hold for 15 days.
That doesn't seem right to me. I seem to recall that if you send it directly, or via email rather than trading, that there is no hold.
Any advice?
