Hah, I had actually just sent you a request after it found a match between us, then looked here to ask something and recognized you.
It seems to be on a good path, but seems a bit clunky at the moment. I don't know if I'm just not seeing it, but when making offers, there doesn't seem to be an "x OR y OR z for something" option, rather it seems limited to only "x, y, and, z for something" which feels like it can be mistaken as offering everything for their one thing if you submit all options, or you have to do one at a time. Am I missing something?

You've likely already seen the new options, but to update this post, offers can now be x OR y OR z (with pick 1 or pick 2). Also, the layout got an update and the front page has a better explanation of how to start, so it should be a bit less clunky compared to the March version.

Just an FYI for anyone reading this--all the way in the future--the site has implemented this OR option and it's just lovely.

I'm going to necro this thread because more people should know about that website. I've been using it for a while and it's really great.
It's very simple to use as well. You add the games you have for trade to your "Tradable" list, the website automatically syncs your "Wishlist" from steam (you can also manually add tradable steam items or other games to your "Tradable" or "Wishlist" on Barter) and when you click "Match" button it'll list everyone who's got games/items you want and wants games/items that you have.
Then you can send them offer on Barter and they can accept, decline or counter-offer it. If the offer was accepted you add each other on steam and trade.
It's very convenient to use and I would recommend that all traders give it a try.

The best part of this site is you won't get random idiots/people whom you have NEVER traded with suddenly giving you neg-rep cause they;re from a third world country and can't understand english.

I was hesitant to use this site first, but after I tried, I found it much easier to make direct offers for things. Definitely can recommend if you want pinpoint offers as opposed to [my admittedly normal] nebulous "anything-from-here" offers.

Barter.vg IS a fantastic site, but given that this thread is 8 months old and existing comments refer to a much-less robust version of the site [the admin is crazy dedicated (and all around awesome)], things've improved a lot since the early comment, above.
Let me note that the current site is very potent and quite capable in catering to fairly specific trading preferences and approaches- worth another look even for people that hadn't cared for it in the past.

Just started trading on there myself.
It is indeed awesome for finding people who have exactly want you want over games that you "kind of" want, the only issues is that you can't soft sell your list (i.e. "this game for anything on this list") very easily, but on the plus side, it does save you from having to read through people's lists too much (which is a bugbear of mine with Steamgifts).
Also, people don't counter offer that much on Barter.vg, they just decline without negotiation, which people tend to do more of on Steamgifts.

(i.e. "this game for anything on this list")
You can do OR or AND statements very easily. 1 for (x) works very well, and you can detail more complex requests in comments.
Moreover, you can do open-ended universal offers to the entire community, as well.

Short of 'Barter.vg is awesome in everyway' and 'Steamgifts trading is pretty poo', I'm not a particularly eloquent source of clarification on it.
Tons of automation, tradables management, fine-tuning features, simple-to-make yet elaborate-in-options trade functions, a crazy-dedicated frequent-updating admin (versus SG's stagnant state)..
I dunno, it's a lot harder to be clear on differences when you love everything about something, and it's all things the other element in comparison doesn't have :X
You may just wanna give it a quick test and get an idea for yourself :)

I'm sorry but I've tried using this site for 20 minutes and I'm finding it confusing as hell and the furthest thing from user-friendly.
Like, I have no idea how to use it, if you don't mind helping me or directing me to a source/link that will help me, that'd be great, thanks!

You log into your Steam account. Then go to the barter.vg wishlist and Sync it with your Steam account. Then go to the barter.vg tradeable list and paste the list of games that you have to trade. Go back to the wishlist and click match, and you'll get a list of people with games you want who want what you have. Add me as a friend if you need any more help. The user Barter.vg is also very helpful and willing to help.

Mutual matches are where you both have something the other wants. All matches is a list of everything on your wishlist that someone has (and who has it, of course!).

The site automatically imports your Steam wishlist. You can optionally add additional games without using your Steam wishlist by going to your wishlist on the site, hitting edit, and then pasting their titles if you don't want to have to find them on the site and add them one by one.
Also on your profile you'll find "Offer Preferences". There you can restrict what kind of offers people can make you. You can make it so people can only offer you games from your wishlist, or you can additionally make it so people can offer you anything you don't own and you can even further restrict that to things that aren't in a current bundle.

I'll give that a shot. I don't see any reason to have wishlist games there for me personally if just trading with bundle games.
Currently, I'm trying to add a game to my list, but it keeps adding the wrong one. Not sure how to get it to add a game based on something other than the title.

Add to your tradables only a part of the name of the game. For example "Lego".
Clic on + Add List
You'll get message "1 unmatched title added You may be able to manually link these." and go to the bottom of the page where you'll find "Unlinked Items (cannot filter or match)" and the "potential matches. Choose the correct game from the drop down list and tick the square to link what you wrote to the actual game
Would be easier to explain with an image but I'm too lazy xD

Yeah, I've tried that. The game doesn't show up in the list, and I'm not sure what to do with the "enter link to profile" field... I've tried the Steam store link and the Barter.vg link and neither works.
I'll try as someone said above and see if I can add it right from the profile page.

Your loss as there's no better way to trade. The interface sure is minimalistic, but as soon as you know what to do you'll be able to do everything you need very easily. When I was new to barter I found that a lot of the traders there were very helpful and eager to answer any question I had or even help me setting up my notifications

Is the site game-for-game only, or does it allow for key and paypal involved trades?
Comment has been collapsed.
You can also do keys, cards, gems, etc. the developer is pretty helpful, so if there's something you'd like to trade that's not available, he'll probably add it.

Signed up an hour ago, first trade completed. Seems like a very handy site, thank you for the thread \bump :D

I really like this https://barter.vg/, way faster to find mutual trade matches than SG. If you haven't tried it, its worth it. Basically it saves a slow trip to compare2steam, as it has everything already loaded for you.

First of all I really love barter ! Is by far the best tool for trading with other people and really simple to use! I can't thank enough the creators!
I Just have one question, how frequently does barter update ? For example some games that have "100" rating, on reality only have 80~ on steam, and some games display that don't have trading cards but in reality they do! Just wanna know that, i think it's the only issue with the site, the rest is absolutely perfect!

I've done quite a bit of trading through SteamTrades and SteamGifts, but it lacks a feature that I find very important. A simple way of finding people that have what you want and are willing to take what you have in exchange! I was recently invited to a group that provides just such a service: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/bartervg
Technically, the group only supports the service, which can actually be found on: https://barter.vg/
I strongly encourage you to join the group and or the website. There's no fees, no refs, no ads. It's just a nice tool to expedite trading.
