Did you know that?
Thanks for the info. I used to take tons of screenshots on PSP (had to use custom firmware though since Sony didn't want to add the feature themselves), but never really got into it on any other platforms.

I mainly started taking screenshots for Playing-Appreciated wins for proof of playing, but now I enjoy taking them :)
It's great to joke with friends on the activity feed about them xD
And scrolling ones image-wall on steam is like viewing an old photo album with all the nice moments from games, I love it :3

Thanks to you for this info, and everyone else in the thread for telling me that it's F12; I can never remember!

NO WAY!! i'll be trying this out tonight after dinner, thank you for the info! dropping the controller into my lap to grope for the keyboard when i want to do a screenshot is incredibly annoying, this'll make things SO much easier.

I just use my big toe and reach over and press F12....
for some reason other keys get in the way
Nah, but anyway, most controllers can be configured - the PS4 controller is great cos you can also configured the touchpad as a mouse, and can also use the guro function for games as well (no need to buy a steam controller)

I'm pretty sure that when you open a game from big picture mode you get a notification reminding you how to take screenshots with the controller, or at least that used to be the case I think, I know steam itself told me how to do it at some point.

Yes, there is. By making binds.
This isn't really magical. It's typically pre-loaded into the default guide button chord configuration that you can change. You likely hadn't changed it, and hadn't used it until you just discovered it.
Pressing that button, and then Y, turns off your controller too - for some reason.

Wow, so today I did not only learn how to take screenshots with Xbox 360 controller but also that, that "RB" is for "Right Bumper" and "RT" is for "Right Trigger", sometimes I tried to figure it out on my own but I was thinking about something like "RB, hmmm, maybe Right Back? (which is not true)". So many mysteries solved today. :D

I once made a screenshot by accident when I was playing Mortal Kombat (With a controller, obviously) and checked my F12 key for literally minutes afterwards because I thought it was broken :D (F12 being my screenshot key)

Maybe it's common knowledge but it seems I missed it over the last 6-8 years ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ
In case someone else didn't know it either:
On the XBOX 360 controller it's the XBox button + RB.
I can't test it, but I guess it's the same for XBOX One.
Edit: According to LeonFowl this also works with an PS4 controller.
Edit: And according to refat17 the steam controller even let's you customize wich buttons you want to use in case you want other ones :)
Note: If you are using Win10 and pressing the XBOX button opens the Xbox Game Bar, you can disable that in the Windows settings under Games :)
