So I've just finished Dead Island, and I must say I really enjoyed it overall, wasn't expecting it.

Now the question: I have Dead Island Riptide, but is it worth playing or I'm better off like this? And what about Epidemic?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't played Riptide, but I've heard it's a slightly improved Dead Island. Also, you should try Dying Light!

As for Epidemic, it's kind've just a MOBA, I never bothered with it.

I'll give a shot at Riptide then.

Yea I'll try Dying Light, not sure if my lappy will be able to run it.

Thanks for the reply.

Dying Light is a major improvement, and yeah, I had to turn the settings down to medium for it to run on my desktop.

Can't wait for Dead Island 2, it's being made by Yager instead of Techland, and Yager made one of my favorite games, Spec Ops: The Line.

Oh yea, definitely, can't wait either. I watched the trailer, it's impossible not to love it lol

We'll see how that goes.

Yager isn't working on DI2 anymore. Techland might get back to developing it.
If you enjoyed the first DI, get Riptide. It has improvements over the first one. I loved the resort from DI (the reason I got the game) and absolutely hated the city, but the city in Riptide was much more enjoyable

conclusion: more of the same with a few tweaks.

I tried Dying Light, the parkour is very well made, but I just couldn't get into the game.

That sucks ... it probably would have been amazing at least story-wise if they made DI2.

is sad

While this game doesn't feel bad at all, I cannot recommend a game that:

Has forced Aim assist. Seriously, this is not a console.
Awful microstutter even at 50+ fps. Seriously, even 30fps are more cinematic than this.
Cannot disable motion blur.

Edit:
I've tried Dead Island Riptide Helper (just google it), I disabled motion blur and done some tweaks, microstutter is a bit better but still there. Seems I'll have to wait 'till I upgrade my hardware... maybe at 500fps it'll work. Aim Assist still an issue.
For me this is just a bad port and lazy devs, if someone made a "helper" tool that has options not inbuilt in the game... nuff said.

I see... Thanks for the review. My graphics card is a little better I guess, 720m, but I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I'm not to pesky about graphics or anything. As long as I'm able to get a fluent gameplay I don't mind to have everything at minimum, so :P

I'm waiting 'till I get a better system to play it, I really can't stand the stutter. One thing to try is using a console controller, some say it's the cause.

Figured it was worth making notice of :)

btw you can get it for 5-6€ on sales

The game is fun I don't mind it. Its better with friends and epidemic is okay i haven't played it for long but its fun from what I've played.

It's not worth the full price. Poorly optimized with a lot of bugs still in it. If you can you should go for Dying Light instead.

When I finished Dead Island I was eager to play Riptide, ignoring all of the negative reviews, but it is really not that great. Apart from those Bugs the world is a lot less interestign and rather bland, and there are no improvements to it's predecessor.

Edit: oh you already own it .... I'm still sleepy i guess.

I haven't played Riptide, but I did see the trailer and it's amazing. Too bad the actual game (reportedly) has nothing to do with the trailer.

i played riptide just past the prologue, but as none of my friends wanted to play it i just uninstalled it -sad-
it looked to be ok, pretty much like DA1.

Not sure
I bought it when the dead island pack got 80% off

Hmm, people said it's not really different (Like COD games now)
But still it's a different game
So, it maybe worth if it's on sale?
Yeah... Would be better if there are friends to play with
But Dead Island is definitely better

Dead Island Riptide has terrible story line. Side quests is retarded.
If you had play in original Dead Island and remind the end of the game, you will get wut I mean.

I made $40 pre-purchase and this game not even worth a $5 (have played it 1.8 hrs).

If you played Dead Island 1, it's worth :) It is next episode of DI1... or how to call it... you know how dead island 1 ended? flew away on helicopter and beggining of riptide is this helicopter crashes with them so I think it is worth a try :)

That was the most awful thing for me! I really enjoyed the main game and especially the story dlc, which provied you with a lot background and a whole new look on everything that happened, but they just threw that away in riptide. The whole hacker-terrorist?-storyline was gone.

IMHO the first one is better. DIR add just few things to the game and many of that are awful (like the motorboat driving) and the story is ever worse.
