You cannot totally agree with both religion and science. If talking about Christianity, f.e. creating the world in Bible is in wrong order and correspondents only ppl imaginations. The world isn't flat as Bible says, and cannot be seen from 1 point. Bushes don't talk. Magic doesn't exit, same as wizards and copying items in real world.
It's nothing worth to say about Islam, when it's prophet was like this, seriously, wtf...

Even if you are a reasonable man if you are theist your view about god will end up limiting your mind. The "God of the Gaps"...
I'm not against god or religion, I just think it's a shame we live in a time of such vast knowledge and expanding understanding and yet we still have so many superstitious people believing in cultural folklore... Think of what such determined minds could do if they turned to science and use their mind actively instead of passively accepting religion... :(

Science is almost as flawed as Religion and actually they do go hand in hand sometimes (sometimes) but Science is a religion in itself.
There is only one thing you can be certain about and that is.
Je pense, donc je suis
Or the latin version ^^ some of you might not know the original French one Decartes made.
Cogito ergo sum

How so?
Unlike religion, Science is corrected when parts are found to be false. That alone implies science is more accurate.
A recent example for religion failing in this area is the whole gay rights thing...
I also fail to see they go hand in hand? One says that our planet is only a few thousand years old and the other makes our humble planet much older. This ofcorse is just one of many examples of how they don't go hand in hand.

The debate is about Religion, not just Abrahamic religions.. if thats the case then it should be stated.
The word religion, can be defined quite broad btw. Science does indeed "sometimes" change the results, All science is based on a simple princip called induction.
An example of this could be. You mix liquid a and liquid b, the results is liquid X the colour is blue.
Next time you do this mix, you test again "because it might change" thats how science work. Sometimes stuff actually do change, but not often.
So is Science right, its not fact most of the time, but the most likely explanation. (another example for you) Back in the days, it was from a scientific viewpoint stated that there was only White Swans in the world, but then later on they changed it, because they found Black Swans in Australia.
Some religions (mainstream) and even old Asian/north european etc. actually have a more arguable aspect of their teachings and they do not behave like Abrahamic religions!!

Wrong forum. But I don't see anything in the FAQ against this kind of thread. Only "please avoid creating topics for political discussion".

Banning science would be like banning logic. But I agree religion/anti-religion arguments are probably considered same ground as politics. Everyone has their own opinion.

religion and science don't work out well together
science is a more realistic aproach imo, there's a scientific explanation for a lot and you can have fun with science
religion is a way to explain things that aren't proven yet by science and religion and fate can connect millions of people across the globe... that's one of the beautiful things about religion, and everybody can interpret their holy books (koran,bible...) in their own manner.
I'm not religious... I'm into art... way more freedom than both science and religion

"“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail,” explained the scientist about his view on death. “There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.”"
But where would all the calculators go?!

Because science is based on evidence and religion is not. There, simple.
And I wish you all a very nice day where ever you are in this vast universe :-)

It is an interesting topic.. IMHO it should not be that big of a deal.. if I where a christian (im agnostic btw), I think I´d see the Bible as an early approach to understand god´s work, but without much knowlege, People back then had to use lots of metaphors and wrong assumptions.. Science on the other hand is a modern approach on the same thing.. who says the allmighty god did not use evolution to guide humanity to the place where we are now? We just get a better look at his toolbox now. I think the Bible should never be viewed as something that descripes thinks exaktly like they are, but how people back then UNDERSTOOD things.. now that we have a better understanding, it doesn´t have to conflict the MEANING of the words in the bible. Correct me if i´m wrong, but I dont thing christians believe the bible was written by god himself, do they? It was written bei humans and (miss-)translated over and over in thousands of years.

It's an interesting topic (to me at least)
Many people claim you cannot be both religious and into science because that might conflict with things such as the "Big Bang" and what there was before the event itself.
I can safely say I am not religious but I do believe there is something higher (a higher power) that probably can't be mastered or explained by science anytime soon. Spiritual perhaps.
Your thoughts?
Personally i find this view to be quite interesting
