This is in response to this thread I made about a month ago.

Okay, so I just want to give a big thanks to anyone that has helped me with the construction of my PC. It is built, all of the parts work, I will be installing all the drivers / OS in a few days. If you're wondering this is what it looks like on my desk. (Sorry the image is sort of fcked, my camera on my phone is jacked up lol.) Be on the lookout, there just may be a giveaway in the distant future wink *wink.

Thanks again! This PC wouldn't have been built without the help of all of you kind people c: I assure you that every response was read and considered. The build ended up being tweaked around with a little, but here are the parts, with the exception of a few things changed. The only thing I can remember really is that instead of 16GB of RAM I did 8, because it was a lot cheaper and a lot of people said that is really all I need for gaming. This is a dream come true, the PC turns on and everything! xD <3

Edit: I ended up spending about $940 including shipping c:

Oh PS: Imagine that picture with a real Monitor, because I'm getting one this weekend for FREE! And also, imagine it with a pair of Speakers and an actual mouse pad instead of a Rolling Stones magazine LOL.

I was about to say, that's either a humongous case or a tiny monitor xD\

Also, congratz on the PC, I built mine 6 months ago, definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made :P

Yeah, the 'monitor' is my TV. xD

I'm hoping this will be a decent PC, and by the looks of everything it will be :D

It looks sort of similar to my specs but with a better graphics card, so you should be just fine.

Also, just out of curiosity, how much time did it take you to build the PC?

About 5-6 hours, I was a first time builder and had help from a friend who was also a first time builder xD.

I think I went about a decade without hearing the phrase "mouse pad", but now it keeps popping up from time to time. I can't imagine why anyone still uses the damn things. Are people using floppy disks as well?

Mouse pads help those optical mice be used on top of surfaces that can't reflect light fully.

I suppose if your desktop is glass, then... yeah, maybe that'd be helpful. I've just never encountered a surface my thirteen year old optical mouse couldn't track on (haven't tried glass, but it worked fine on clear plastic). I can't imagine newer mice have it any tougher.

I don't mean your desktop. Some places you use your mouse on may made of glass.

Well, it's not completely built. I just need to install the OS and stuff, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to run most modern games :)

Looks like a nice build. I'd have gone with more RAM, but I tend to multitask RAM-intensive stuff, so 16GB would be beneficial. And then another 16GB for a RAMdrive. ;)

I'm upgrading later, don't worry. I only did 8Gigs, because it was cheaper.

Fair enough. If you need to skimp on something to upgrade later, RAM is easily the best choice. That said, the advice you got--that 8GB is probably sufficient for you--is most likely correct. Don't rush to upgrade; play with it a while and only add more if you actually find a need for it. For most people that's enough.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll second this. 8 GB is likely plenty for now for most people, but its always a good idea to leave room to expand RAM. Down the road, its a cheap but effective upgrade for PCs.

Only 490$?Wow that's a big deal mate.I think 8 GB is enough for gaming and multitasking for now,and you can upgrade the RAM anytime you want and have money for it.If you really want to be a "freak" you can buy 32 GB of ram and do a RAMDISK :P
