Another one I don't think I'll ever try going for all achievements for is Guns of Icarus Online. I didn't find the game very fun and the achievements seem extremely grindy as well. Also.... you have completed a lot of games o.o

Ugh, yeah looots of achievements as well. Looks very time consuming as well with all those mp achievements.
Haha! Yeah ^^ Well, would be a shame if I wouldn't play my games. :) but 100%'ing them takes sometimes forever, but it's rewarding. That's why I like to take the smaller ones first. :P

Assuming from the look of this game, they must have realized that it won't sell much, so they went for other ways to get profit, give it away for free and get money from card sales.

I'm unfamiliar with this kind of system, so do people normally stay members of the groups that they want you to join or do you quickly join and then exit just for the game?

That's for you to decide. You can stay in the groups to have it easier for the next giveaways, but since lots of then often sent out many notifications on steam, they tend to quit them after getting the key as they get annoyed by the notifications. Or they quit just to simply only stay in groups they really want to stay.

Thanks for the information and some insight on what people look for when deciding if they want to stay in the group. I wonder if there is a steam option to disable group announcements per group if spanny notifications if one of the major problems?

As KingCalifornia said, it is only your choice, we usualy have 1-2 announcements per week where we shout ongiong giveaways.
So if you think that will be annoying and spammy for you feel free to leave :)

Check your games list. I had similar problem, steam said me that key is invalid, but game was added to my account.
