Too make your bad English less noticeable... maybe try changing something... I am thinking of the excessive quantity of times you inserted three fullstops consecutively... so just leave them all out and use proper grammatical punctuation next time... friendly advice from an Australian! (We speak English in Australia for those that don't know)

Never will understand, why people have to be shitty about the things they don't like.

Overrated or not, the 2nd one had decent multiplayer Imo.
Also just because you don't like a game doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it, how is it a good thing if it disappoints people? Childish.

Well I don't have the game so it doesn't affect me but overall I don't like the idea of game servers shutting down, I can imagine it happening to some of the older cods within the next few years, and I bought dlc for all of those...that's why I stopped buying cod dlc since mw3

This is true. However the crack and the loader mod were actually two separate things, so I suppose that theoretically people who had a valid activation key could play multiplayer on XP. I say theoretically because I never actually tried... but it should work because all the loader did was trick it into thinking it was running on Vista. It didn't mess with the activation at all. In any case this all seems moot.

It installed and played for me just fine under XP using a tiny little loader mod that tricks Halo2 into thinking that it's running under Vista. In fact everyone I know that had it used that same mod and I can't think of a single person that moved to Vista to play it.
I never even noticed that Halo2 had multiplayer so I'm not very surprised that they are shutting it down.

I didn't think about that one :D that's a good option but not possible any more I think and it'll be hard to implement in an update using old software and file.etc
Halo 3 had local multiplayer but it's not on PC and maybe they didn't think about that when Halo 2 came ?

I suppose if someone really cared enough they could set up their own dedicated server, but they would need to know the specifics of the Halo2 MP protocols. I'm not sure if that's public domain or proprietary information. You'd think that if the main servers were going down that either Bungie or Microsoft or someone would just release that information to the public. It's not like they could possibly make any more money off it anyway.

The heartache I felt when Halo 2 on Xbox shut down was horrendous.

So the failed experiment actually took this long to die off? I'm actually kind of surprised. I myself have no particular personal feelings on the shutdown since I never played Halo 2 MP (got it cracked like many others) and wasn't impressed by Halo 2's SP, which really felt like a rushed, confused clusterfuck. Still, I liked the original and had hoped that Halo 2's failure (though justified*) wouldn't prevent the other games from reaching our platform. Alas, it's obvious that that's never going to happen now. What a shame.
*Arbitrary OS requirement that was easily broken, terrible and buggy performance for an already old game, the whole GFWL system bollocks... Yeah. Halo 2 Vista was simply an unacceptably bad port. Especially compared to the fantastic Gearbox port of the original.

i agree.. Halo 2 Campaign is not really good for me... the best of the game is the multiplayer.. and that GFWL sucks.. really.. i hate it..
And actually.. Gearbox made a lot of mystakes in the original Halo by porting it.. they have broken some shaders from the xbox game.. and some other mystakes that i can't remember.. it's a good porting, but not the best.. could be better..

That's the problem with multiplayer games which rely on a central server.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! I WAS GONNA REINSTALL IT TOMORROW TOO! D:

Are HALO 1 servers still up? That game was the bees knees.

Yeah, ultra sucks.. I played around 1200-1300 matches of Halo 2 for Xbox... next to Quake 1, it's my favorite multiplayer experience in my life thus far... The fun of getting a team of friends together and playing H2 MP was really the best MP ever... so insanely fun, and spent so many hours playing it. The fact that MS canceled original XBL meanwhile RAISING the price of XBL Gold is something I'll never get over. I haven't paid for XBL since, and don't plan to ever again. Now that Bungie will be going onto something new, I won't have to tolerate MS' bullcrap treatment of its customers and gamers in general anymore. The fact that H2 was Vista-only and requires GFWL is just another testament to how MS fucks with all of us and interlaces all of their products with restrictive consumer-unfriendly practices.

So.. this is not related to a steam game.. but i think this is something some people are interested... maybe someone played the game or played the Xbox version before... but idk..
Well.. the thing is.. 343 Industries said they will close the servers of the Halo 2 PC Version on February 15.. because of a lack of players..
For some people... this will be the second time that halo 2 will be dead.. but anyway.. this is sad.. :(
What do you think of this?
