Is there a way to get minecraft for less then $27? That's what the price is on the main site and I want to play the game but not for 27 bucks. Any thoughts?

Cheapest it's ever been was 5€ in pre-alpha, but they don't do sales. Like, ever.

If you absolutely refuse to pay $27, I guess you could wait for the Euro to go down in value. Then you can get it for $26.

Well, I got it for $14 last year in a 50% sale (actually it was buy 1 get 2, and bought with a friend).

It is a nice game, but expencive for an Indie. Notch must have a real Diamond Pickaxe by now.

sure, there are many sites, however, Mojang dont have any authorised resellers o you'll be risking the account being closed.

Are you serious; that game is almost $30!?

I just bought Mafia 2 and Recettear for $8; I could likely get around 6-7 very nice games for the price of that game. Hell, even Dishonored was just $7.50 at GetLoadedGo. I can't understand how anyone would pay $30 for Minecraft of all games.

The difference is most people gets hundreds of hours of gameplay out of minecraft including free updates which would be paid dlc in any other game

DLC or not, I could get 6-7 *full games** for that price. I'm sure I could hundreds of hours out of them as well (I have 250 hours in The Witcher that I paid $3 for, and about 100 in Divinity 2 that I paid $7).

"Most people", like myself for example, run Minecraft, "play" it for two hours, and then never run it again, because it's not a game, it's boring, it's not challenging, and there's absolutely no point in wasting your life on it.

Some people find it appealing. Then again, some people also liek mudkipz.

You could get hundreds of hours of gameplay from any game. Minecraft sucks you have to be dull to enjoy it

I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours in Minecraft. I can easily justify $30 with that over 5-10 cheaper games that I'd probably get a collective hundred hours out of.

Minecraft is repetitive and gets old.

If you have no imagination, or play single-player, then yep. But if you do that then you're missing out on a huge chunk.

Pick a random MMO. Now picture playing it single player. How long would it be fun for?

Me personally I do like it but there isnt much 'game' in there. It is what it is. A Sandbox level editor.. or thats what I call it.

My son LOVES it though. As sad as it might be to admit it (as a parent) he has over 200 hrs in it for sure (xbox version), not to mention his Ipod Touch version.
He spends his time creating unique worlds and devices. And he mostly doesn't play with anyone else.. cept for a scattered friend if they are over, or his sister or myself.
Ive sat down many days and we've made towns - pirate ships - recently we made the USS Enterprise (space) with working phasers. He's not a starttek fan so he modified my design to include bombs (pushes a button to release TNT to blow up the world below us)

You CAN get a WHOLE LOT MORE out of minecraft then many many many games.

I thought you were lying at first because when I bought it it was around $7 Canadian. Back to your question though...Mojang has not realeased any coupons or price-cuts (other than Alpha/Beta purchases) so I doubt you can get it cheaper off of the main site. Also, since MOJANG publishes its own games they will not let others sell it too (except for the 360). I doubt you can find a price cut, sorry.

Wtf minecraft 27 dollars?

It's not even worth 5 bucks (average sale of indie game) in my book.

Fortunately there are also people that value indie games.

It has mod support. They're working on a mod API which might even be released in 1.6 or 1.7.

Too bad they keep pushing back the release of the API. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes until 2.0 or later for it to release.

I actually played downloaded version for about a year on non-premium server and than got it about a month after official release for full price. Still worth it if you ask me, got at least 1k hours on it and still playing.

Yet another zombie game? The narrator says "nucular"? There's crafting? It's based on blocks?

Why? Why, jesus, why? Why would anyone make that? Why would anyone buy that? Why would anyone play that?

Why???

Why? Because some people like the idea of having to fight for your life in your self created house with a couple of friends while laughing your bollocks off

From what I hear, you can just use someone else's login info. The only (supposed) restriction is that you can't be on the same SERVER with the same account twice. In other words, if you can get a key from someone you'll never play with, you're golden. I don't own/play Minecraft (Terraria all the way IMO) but this was the idea I got from a conversation between two friends.

Also, Terraria is IMO much better than Minecraft and frequently goes on sale for $2.50 on Steam. Just saying.

Anyone who would pay even one cent for minecraft after release has no standards or taste.

Terraria should be getting a fresh new update any day now. I think it was supposed to come out by the end of this month.

Yeah, it's nothing like Minecraft, in the sense of actually being a fun game, both co-op and single-player, having actual goals in the game, and being in actual danger from the mobs.
