Fun fact:Joan Jett did was not the original singer/writer of "I love Rock and Roll" but actually heard the song while touring the UK with the Runaways in the '70s.Original song

I'll choose something from each decade you listed, lesser-known artists for each decade.
1950s-I Put a Spell on You by Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Hawkins had originally intended to record "I Put a Spell on You" as "a refined love song, a blues ballad". However, the producer "brought in ribs and chicken and got everybody drunk, and we came out with this weird version ... I don't even remember making the record. Before, I was just a normal blues singer. I was just Jay Hawkins. It all sort of just fell in place. I found out I could do more destroying a song and screaming it to death."from here
1960s-Kick out the Jams by MC5
Proto-punk madness.
1970s-Hassan I Sahba by Hawkwind
Space/progressive rock, among the first.
1980s-Nothing by Negative Approach
One of the pioneers of American hardcore punk.

Tossed in a couple Ramones singles as well as bonus.

Ok... I know I'm posting too much here, (I'll try to take a break after this) but since no one else will/ has mentioned the Queen of Disco... Donna Summer with some super sexy tunes.
She was really sexy, great singer. Was never much on Disco except Donna Summer, she's transcendent talent.

Listening to Talking Heads reminded me of their amazing concert video Stop Making Sense (RIP Jonathan Demme) and it reminded me of one of the greatest punk band documentaries ever put to film:We Jam Econo: The Story of the Minutemen.Hence, I wanted to post some of their songs.MM were a hugely influential band, inspiring dozens of artists.
All you kids who like RHCP can thank them for that band since Flea was a huge fan.
Minutemen-What Makes a Man Start Fires lp, released in 1982 on SST Records

Can I get music/song recommendations from 1950's to 80's? I don't care the genre of the music (even if I haven't heard of it), because I love listening to new things. Who knows maybe it'll be something I really love, right? Please let me know in the comments. Thanks
