I know my grandfather had some from when he was a tank driver for the U.S. during WWII.
Now you got me wondering what happened to them when he passed away.

Anyway, probably one of the most popular.

Thanks, man, that was really nice of you to say. :)
Though he never talked about the war, it was something I was extremely proud of him for.

My dad was the one who showed me the posters (and a lot of other WWII memorabilia), so perhaps I'll ask him where they ended up.

Here's some Soviet posters I had saved

It's worth noting that a lot of the Soviet posters ride on promoting national unity, especially emphasizing the connection between the military, the government, and the laborers. This all fit with Lenin's vision of Vanguardism, Stalin's vision of Socialism in One Country, and the overall Soviet vision of state socialism. The posters would also frequently show the BT model of tanks, which used J. Walter Christie's suspension system designs that were popular among many WWII tanks.

As a bonus, here's my much larger collection of posters from the CNT FAI during the Spanish Civil War

A translation would be good if you know Spanish or Russian
As I know nothing about the two languages

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Don't know Russian and my knowledge of Spanish is way too limited to read these. The common theme in the CNT posters are just liberty, new times (due to anarchist and republican fighting against Francoist fascists), and worker's autonomy. "No pasarán" means "they shall not pass" and was a pretty common slogan during the war against the Francoists.

I will translate those then: "Here's some Soviet posters I had saved"

1st poster:
Бьём мы здорово, колем отчаянно - внуки Суворова, дети Чапаева = We strike hard, we prick like grim death - we are grandsons of Suvorov, we are childrens of Chapaev
P.S. Suvorov is russian general hero(here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Suvorov), same with Chapaev (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasily_Chapayev)
Edit 1:I will add new translations below for each poster

6th poster:
Защитим город Ленина - Protect the Lenin`s city
To be more accurate i will add this "We have to protect the city of Lenin"
City of Lenin is Leningrad (Nowadays it is Saint-petersburg: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Petersburg)
Lenin is a man who started the red revolution and put an end to the Russian Empire and created USSR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Lenin
The german forces were given the direct order from the Hitler to take that city at all cost cos it has the name of the Lenin...If the city would have fall it had been broke moral of many men in army, factories and so on...that is why Russians defended that as their home

Rosie the Riveter. Perhaps the most iconic WW2 poster.

I also love propaganda posters and this Aussie one is cool because you rarely hear about their role in the war.

Ty for the giveaways and here is a poster demonising the Bolshevism...

And the second one is a pretty well made one that crucified the Jews for all the differences/conflicts between the countries where the Star of David (and thus "The Jew") seperates all the countries (on the bottom of it is written "Chorus of People: Can't you give me your hand, my good comrade?" )

That's a dutch poster. Inscription says the following:

Dutch:
De U.S.A. zullen de Europeesche Kultuur van den ondergang redden.

German:
Die U.S.A. wollen die Europäische Kultur vor dem Untergang retten.

English:
The U.S.A. want to rescue the European culture from the downfall.

I cant understand actually, This poster against USA or supports it?

The text is pure irony.

Found this description on Pintertest:

This is a 1944 Nazi SS propaganda poster by Nazi propagandist Harald Damsleth. "Leest Storm SS" isn't the artist but ad copy to "Read Storm SS", a Nazi propaganda tabloid targeted for the occupied Netherlands. The card reads (sarcastically): "U.S.A. To save our culture from destruction." The caption says something like "With what right?" This one image manages to criticize the KKK, racism, lynching, appropriation and exploitation of black culture, jazz, beauty pageants, greed, gun violence…
