Usually typing smth like:

on google works for me on finding threads created by a specific person. You could also add the name of the thread if you remembered it to limit the results even further.

Whelp. Been stuck trying something for 20 mins, I'm going to call it since I figure I'm on the wrong track :( Although a hint would be appreciated. I feel like I'm missing something - is there an esoteric solution? Or is it staring me in the face?

Esoteric, hmm not so much I think. I don't want to be too revealing giving a hint, but yes, what you are looking for might be something you never heard off. However, you should be able to figure it out by using the things you probably do know.

+1
I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what to do but I don't know how to actually do it.

This was a very tricky puzzle, since the Chichen Itza pyramid is Mayan, rather than Aztec. (An Aztec pyramid would look more like this.) Searching for "Mayan code" is going to send you far down the wrong track.
Unfortunately, if you do an image search for "Aztec pyramid" (say, if you're making a puzzle and you need a picture of an Aztec pyramid to be part of it), you're going to see El Castillo all over the place, haha doh.
But, people still managed to solve it, so it was solvable. Just extra tricky.

I was looking for mayan, they're not really the same

lol, I thought the black and white bits were parts of a binary or morse code. :P

How come I didn't come across this? -_-
And I am craving for the solutions to the previous, previous puzzle (the one that had 0 entries)

Hay guys,
in my last puzzle I was kinda gone for a week so I could not give the necessary attention and tips to get things going. So this time I made it easier but there is also less time to solve it.
It ends late tomorrow (depending on where your time zone is) and I've set cv at 30.01.
Alright!
SOLUTION:
The picture contained black squares which should remind of you of a visual code, like a QR code for example.
Secondly, the temple or pyramid, was an Aztec one(edit: it is mayan, so sorry for this mistake). Now you had to put those 2 together, some people quickly realized an "Aztec Code" is a thing.
If you did not know what exactly you were looking for I hoped you would try a Google search like: "qr code aztec pyramid temple" or any combination of those which would lead you immediately to the wiki page of "Aztec Code".
After you have seen what an Aztec Code looks like, you had to open the picture up in Paint or another image editor (even printing it out would work), replace the picture of the Aztec temple with black squares as in a normal Aztec Code.
Then at last, you had to use an Aztec Code scanner on it, which are freely available on internet, or as a free smartphone app. If you had problem using the website ZXing to decode it, sorry for that, you had to be very precise constructing the squares for that site as they still have a "beta" quality scanner in place as they call it. Scanning the code would give you the important url part to enter the giveaway.
The center pattern resembles an Aztec pyramid/temple, which is why the code is called an Aztec code.
Well done everyone who got it, sorry anyone who didn't make it, I hope I have not made you TOO mad hehe.
Have a nice evening!
