"This was obviously a scam" As most of the time they are....

It doesn't seem new to me. I've yet to see something original scamming wise.

I never trusted those gambling sites, most of them are rigged.
Let me share some experience with scammers... There was this time a guy wanted to trade 2 games i have for trade for the asimov sniper skin for CSGO, but he have the skin in another account, so he told me i have to send the cd keys first because he was giving me a great offer for 2 games, i told him "great! thanks a lot! let me grab the keys, a second please", and i blocked him D:
And here is a scamming bump D:

I've yet to be scammed, but I have been ripped off 2 or 3 times in MMO's from letting people use my hunting characters. Nothing that's ever crippled my progress though, just disappointing that people will steal your stuff when you're doing them a solid.

I feel you, getting ripped off is unpleasant. Sadly, that's how people are, selfish. What really disappoints me is that there are people who take up scamming as a hobby, like the guy I mentioned earlier. He could have programmed a legit website, but instead he chose to spend his time for creating the non-sense that started this thread. We Lithuanians have a saying "nėra to blogo, kas neišeitų į gerą". It means that there's nothing bad that won't turn into good. Now I'm starting to notice selfishness in my own actions. Maybe meeting a scammer once in a while can actually make you a better person. Think about it. Maybe you have become one.

If you are noticing it in yourself, you aren't yet lost. It's when you stop noticing and start thinking it's normal that you have a problem. Thanks for doing something nice (trying to protect the vulnerable/naive).
...and for the giveaway!
:-)
PS. I didn't realise that Lithuanian culture had such an optimistic streak. I imagined (from Australia, even western Europe is very exotic) it to have more of the stereotypically Slavic stoicism, e.g. "life is hard, but we will endure". It makes me happy to hear this Lithuanian saying.

We do have examples of stoicism in our culture, but all I can think of are from long past ("Metai" by K. Donelaitis from XVIII century). Nowadays this kind of view wouldn't work for Lithuanians. Stoicism crosses with Lithuanian patriotism, we tend to fight for ourselves, not endure. We were occupied several times and the history of Lithuania for the past 500 years is mostly about how our people were trying to keep our country existent. For now, we are free and we do our best so that it would stay this way. As for optimism, for everyone his own. I'm sure you could find multiple views on life in your folklore as well. It's all about what we choose to believe.

For sure!
I did a little light research to educate myself about Lithuania since my message and learned a couple of things that helped me understand. I'll start by admitting (again) that most people in Australia are quite ignorant about non-British European geography and history, particularly "eastern Europe", which is simplistically visualised as a single homogenous place of mystery, based on Hollywood depictions of Siberia and Moscow. I'm exaggerating, but not by as much as you might think. You could probably justifiably condemn our ignorance as offensive, but it's a result of our historical immigration policy, which is positively disgraceful. Anyway, I now know a little more about Lithuania's location with regard to the Baltic Sea and its proximity to Scandinavia, as well as a little bit of its history of hostile annexation or military occupation by Russia and USSR, so I have a little bit better understanding about the national identity.
Thanks for explaining!

No problem. I'm not offended at all, this is actually the most pleasant conversation I've had on a forum so far. I love your talk manner, even though you were talking seriously, I couldn't help, but smile sometimes. Not that your text sounds funny, it seems like you're trying to boost my self esteem, motivate me to keep talking. It would be awesome to know more people like you in real life.

Thanks! :-D
Yeah, that's my style. I'm glad you appreciate it. I tend to write quite formally, perhaps because I've done a lot of it when I was working as an engineer, but I am always trying to have fun. I used to try to sneak a bit of humour into the extremely dry and boring documents that I would write.
I'll add you on Steam (where I have a different name) for extra opportunities for pleasant conversation.

A friend of mine has been contacted by a random Russian guy. The person introduced himself as an administrator in stopgaben.pw, a supposedly gambling site. He explained that he was hired as a designer there and that the owners forgot to remove his admin rights. The guy offered $400 in site credits, which he wanted to split. The money could supposedly be redeemed after depositing $10.
This was obviously a scam. The offer already sounded too good to be true, but on to of that, my friend would always win in lotteries with the credits "donated". We tried chatting through the website. We could see each other's messages, but every time we tried to talk/respond to someone else, we were just ignored.
I'm including pictures of the chat and website, should it change domain. Notice how the name at the top left doesn't match with the domain already. Names are censored, hence the Steamgifts rules and privacy. A steamrep.com report has already been submitted. This post is just to spread awareness. Finally, if you came here for the giveaway, here it is. Happy holidays.
