Ugh. I tried logging into the browser within the Steam client before looking up the issue. Mobile auth kicked in and then my store became Brazilian. I want to change my password to be safe but I need the service I'm supposed to avoid. Great.

To be fair, this isn't an attack (apparently), it's just a fuckup, probably something bugged when the servers went down a bit ago.

It's alright. The phone verification will protect us all.

Unfortunately I must say in this case the phone 2 factor authentication is going to be the most accurate protection.
Basically users have been able to see emails, phone numbers and account names, they won't see the steam recovery code and the phone 2FA changes every 30 seconds anyway. They weren't really logged into the accounts they saw.
Anyway, that's not even a problem if you didn't access your personal information in a while (I heard about an hour), because those didn't get cached.
The problem is less serious than it seems. It HAS been a serious personal data leak, but it won't give people the tools to steal from other people.
...unless you run to change your credit card datas and blahblahblah, that's the worst possible scenario, because sensible pages have been cached and shown to other people.

According to SteamDB guys and Steam subreddit, don't visit Steam Store or Steam Community. Don't login or logout. Don't touch anything.
SteamDB twitter: "To repeat, do NOT visit any Steam Store links. Doesn't matter what you want to do, do not visit any of them." "The best way to protect yourself is to completely avoid Steam websites for now."
