I can't decide. The SCOPE of it makes me really want to play it, but so far I haven't seen any actual CONTENT that would make it worthwhile.
Discovering planets and naming stuff is useless if nobody else is ever going to see it. Or if you only visit once. I'm still waiting for that one killer feature to be announced.

Its a great concept. and will be a good sandbox at the beginning but. here's what it will become eventually

I was. Then I realized that it would be always online which would mean I can't cheat to make the game more fun. No thanks.

its not, there is online, where you can upload and secure discoveries, or offline where you cannot. (you can only secure them on your console offline)

Oh? I was sure due to it's persistent procedural generation of the world that it would be always online. If it can be played offline then perhaps I'll give it a look afterall....providing the save system is good.

That's what generally kills open world games. I've heard some people hype it up to take on Elite Dangerous though which is interesting considering we've seen some staged demos but no real gameplay yet (E3 was said to be staged)

Thank you very much for the info. I didn't know about that game. It looks awesome. Wishlisted, too

I think the scope of the game is too large and in reality the game will be filled with worlds with very little to do in them

Hmm, right now it's "press W to win", judging by how nothing at all happens in trailer.
I'm not saying game must have explosions and all. But here it's really nothing. There's not even creepy atmosphere where you think something might jump at you any second (Gone Home).
Which is why I'm really looking forward to see what the duck this game is about.

Excited? Kind of. But I'm not holding my breath. Only when it's out and get rave reviews will I get really excited.

I am not.
The game looks really simple, be the first to explore and that's it.
But, what other different things are there?
People have been pointing out the obvious flaws the game has, but the developers seems to ignore these things. I don't know why they ignore them, they're pointing things that made other similar products fail
I won't deny that this game looks fantastic, the soundtrack sounds beautiful and it seems like an enjoyable experience during the first hours, but you can't deny that it's going to be really repetitive soon if there's little to no interaction (except for the battling flying sections, these are badass), making not worth the price.
If there was interaction like, "since you're the first one that explored the planet, you can create your own type of civilization!" kind of thing.
Like make it your 3D Spore Galactic Era thing, that would be pretty badass.
