Sorry to hear that. The real advice you should be giving people is to avoid using paypal for gaming transactions altogether. There are numerous risks when using it to purchase digital goods and it's really not worth it. It's safer and smarter to use the official steam trade window for the entire trade.

True much. Paypal is kind off clunky with these issues either. I got screen proofs of the scam and still no reply from them.

That's good to hear. I hope they can solve it for you.

generally paypal does not cover digital good no matter how the transaction takes placed i found out the hard way but lucky it was not much money
they will only cover physical things like stuff you can receive in the mail
but digital codes and such they do not cover no matter what i guess i can see why they do not
but scammers know this and try use this to scam people knowing they can do little about it once the transaction has taken place at least with paypal
best thing to do if you want to use paypal is not to risk anything your are not willing to loose like a buck or something might be worth the chance
your best bet is always to trade within steam and buy keys if you want to trade as you should not get scammed that way as long as you double check the trade screen and never do a half trade unless your willing to risk it

And you didn't submit the steamrep report?
You're okay with being scammed and the scammer not being banned for this, then?

I've got a couple of those too, they'll offer to pay, send an invoice. Invoice actually asks you FOR MONEY. So don't fall for it people.

Only accept paypal payments if it's through friends and family. I tend to pay with paypal if I don't have any keys on me and I don't want to go through another trader and then go back to the original trader and all that.

You do realize that they can still pull this trick when using the friends and family option right?
Always check the payment details to see the type of payment when you do a trade trough paypal, if they use anything besides paypal funds you're most likely at risk.

I've never used paypal funds for these transfers. Check reputation on the various sites, don't deal with anyone that has no rep/activity. When I was trying to build reputation, I would show people my activity here, reference my verified paypal, or games/inventory/level/age in steam. Just do a bit of research on who is sending you funds, some of us just want you to take all our monies away.

Eh, I don't do paypal things much, too much risk.

I only tend to accept PayPal from people I already know and trust. And I've only used it myself with one trader.

Hello and Good day.
I just want to raise attention to a certain paypal scam that caught me yesterday.
Here is how the scam went:
First, the person will prompt to buy one or more of your listed games. They will then say that they will pay through paypal with the use of their mastercard. They will even pay first without hesitation. Now, once you go look through your paypal account, there will be an invoice (prompting that payments with mastercard arrive after 24hours) of payment, and since it looks legit, you will then proceed to give the games. Now the problem is, even after waiting for 3 days, the balance won't appear on your paypal account and that's where you realize that you just got owned by a scammer.
Now, the games that he took isn't a big deal for me. The big thing is that, they pull off these kind of cheap stunts and get away with it. Though, it is also partially my fault for being gullible.
I hope that you guys get something good that may help you out in the future from this experience of mine.
