Instead of asking, you can just check. Snake was working on it.

I am not entirely sure, cg cleared the database prior to me making sure I had backups of everything.
He does have a full backup of the database however, so if you posted it on the forum, it can be recovered.

Last chance? Does this mean that the release of SGv2 is very near?
Comment has been collapsed.
It just means there have been next to no updates to the FAQ for a while, and that basically it means I am done. cg has the call on that other part of, "when it is done."

It has repeatedly been said that when the swap happens all data on SteamGifts.com will be copied to SteamSocial.com's databases, and then the whole thing will be on SteamGifts.com.
So, the first one.

They're adding a trading section? And trading feedback? Seems a little redundant with steamtrades already up. That will be interesting.
Also, the FAQ should have been brief and used simpler words, less sentences, less topics, and more hyperlinks instead of trying to explain everything in its entirety while using obscure English like "simply disappear into the aether". Pictures can help too. I see what you were trying to do with it and that's just too much for the demographic here. You might want to make a separate wiki or SG Bible for any specific details and community thoughts, while leaving the FAQ to just the rules and specifics without any additional thoughts.

There won't be a SteamTrades.com, it will be redirecting to the Trades section.

"Do not misrepresent the title being given away."
So no more http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/foOls/Half-Life-3?
Comment has been collapsed.
No, more like when you make a giveaway for Half-Life 2 and it is actually a code for Half-Life 2: Lost Coast.

"Do not, "call out," or implicate anyone who submits giveaways, or misbehaves on or off SteamGifts.com. Please submit a Support Ticket with the details and screenshots of the event, do not comment on any giveaway or thread regarding the potential infraction, do not take to chat with your concerns, never mention anyone by name. Witchhunts, justified or not, will not be tolerated.
Never, under any situation, are you to be actively disrespectful of other users, this includes while informing them of potential rule breaking they may have done. Link them the guidelines and FAQ, let them know they should be better informed before engaging the site, but do not disrespect them. This includes sexism, racism, homophobia, and gender and religion bashing."
These two seem to kind of blend in some areas... Like let's say it looks like someone's regifting. Under the first rule, that's considered "misbehaving" and we should not call out. But then the second rules says that we can tell them they're breaking rules and link them the FAQ? Is that not calling out?
Comment has been collapsed.
Calling out is when I say, "hey this guy's making a fake giveaway, FAAAAAAKE!" Or when I make a post on the forum saying, "Sinovera mulches babies, they just mulched mine!" Informing someone that something they are doing is against the rules is not the same thing.

"I have one of the games or DLC from a bundle or pack that has been put up for a giveaway, can I still enter it?
Only with the express permission of the person doing the giveaway, as it is so wasteful to have the duplicate simply disappear into the aether. If the giveaway description says you can, you can, but otherwise assume no and if you are feeling bold, ask the giveaway creator to mention their feelings in that regard in the description section. This is true if you own one title in a bundle or pack, or all but one item in a bundle or pack - the giveaway creator's word is law in this."
Maybe mention that the GA creator can decide that they don't want to give it to someone who owns a part of the pack AFTER the GA ends without ever having made it clear prior to the GA ending? I remember a thread recently in the forums about this and there was a lot of confusion. AFAIK, support usually grants rerolls in that case, no?
Comment has been collapsed.
No, when the default is you cannot enter, then there is no need for clarification.
The giveaway creator has to allow the person to win, they do not have to decide they do not win.

Basically you translate it, and let cg or myself know.

I have a suggestion. Including a pop-quiz regarding the faq and guidelines and making it a prerequisite to creating giveaways (and posting to the forums) for new members. It could, in my humble opinion, drastically reduce the amount of 'fake' giveaways and unnecessary topics.
Comment has been collapsed.
There is already a reminder page that comes up the first time you make a giveaway explaining that this is you giving away your shit but not the stuff on your account.
So it shouldn't be too bad.

Don't underestimate the dumbness of certain people!

I know this thread is only for the FAQ, but I contacted support with a suggestion for the new site and they ignored me (no response).
I would like an option to hide games by their platform, for example, hide games that don't support SteamOS/Linux. The best thing would be to put 3 check buttons with each of the platforms and let the user choose any combination of platforms. For example, hide games that don't support Windows and Mac, etc.
I see that there are currently another options for hiding DLC's, etc. already in place.
You could also add options like:
These ones are a plus, but the platform one (hiding by platform) I think is REALLY neccessary.
I'm using a plugin currently to show platform support as icons at the side of every game.
This is how SG looks for me with a plugin
PS: I just noticed after writing this, that the new site has also a working forum. I didn't noticed because I'm so used to see recent post on the top of the page... Oh, well... I'd better repost this thing there as a [suggestion]...

-Do not create threads for political or other inflammatory topics, it will only cause trouble.
"inflammatory" is really vague, please specify. Also notice that nowhere it is stated that support has discretional power.
-Keep in mind that on the Internet no one can tell if you are being sarcastic, it is therefore impossible to distinguish between parody and reality. Do not jokingly break rules, it will be treated at face value.
So if "joking" et similar is stated in the comment, it should be no problem and not punishable.

Can people ask for relationship/dating/love advice in forums on SGv2 ?
Will the banned members list from SGv1 be valid for SGv2 ?
Will people that have lost all their giveaway slots on SGv1 be able to create new giveaways on SGv2 ?

This is officially your last chance to have any say in the FAQ or guidelines which will go live at the same time that SteamGifts.com v2 does.
Read them, seek out clarification where you encounter obfuscation, they could save your life - but only if you can understand them.
