I've been sitting on a copy of Stellaris: Nova Edition since before release and I've been unable to find a buyer. It's not like it's an unpopular game or anything, I just think most are wary that I'm offering a GMG Key and only have 1 rep here.

So is there a regular trader who buys keys to trade later to people?

Note: there is a separate trade section here, and all trading related activity should stay there.

I don't think anyone will take a key and save it for later - too much risk.
You need to find someone who wants the game now, who will activate it and verify that it's legit.

That being said, what are you asking for it?

I've been asking 14 keys, which is the same as other traders have been asking for the base edition, so I figure it's a pretty good deal for the added risk of coming with a Key, or for a straight swap with Hearts of Iron IV (base edition).

Also, I don't see any trade category? http://puu.sh/prZwA/a741f542da.png is what I see.

I didn't even think about the added risk associated with that, of course!

  • It's going for $27 on G2A, you're selling it for 14 keys which are valued at around $28 if you're talking about CS:GO keys. And if we're just talking legit stores, WinGameStore has it for $29.
  • There's no guarantee the key won't be activated already after the re-sale
  • You have pretty much no rep

Advice:

  • Lower the price. You don't stand a chance if you're asking for 14 keys.
  • Build up some rep. You can do this easily by buying/selling bundled/previously free games.
  • https://www.steamgifts.com/trades/search?want=hearts+of+iron+iv (these people have Hearts of Iron IV, try getting your desired swap with some of them. Your chances are very small though unless they explicitly wish for Stellaris)

Just to toss it out, OP did say it is the Nova Edition (~$50 but might be worth $40 since GMG usually has coupons). I think that might reduce the chances of getting a trade though since it's much more expensive (but someone is sure to want a copy... somewhere).

Oh you're right, my bad. The pricing in my post is for the Standard edition.

Yeah, that's why I priced it at 14 keys, I thought it was fair for an edition that costs about $10 more.

Build trade rep. Nobody would believe somebody under a few dozen rep is selling a random non-bundle game that costs more than 5 USD and the key is actually working (or if it is, it won't get revoked because it was acquired with a stolen credit card).

Except that I'm a known streamer who got the game early via press copy - and have the evidence to back that up. My circumstances might be a little strange, but it is the way it is.

Sadly, being a known streamer is a relative term. I have seen people asking in more than one chat who lirik is, and he is a pretty big streamer. Or people who learnt from witwix's existence through his GDQ runs.
What I'm trying to imply subtly is that I spend a good chunk of my time on Twitch, but for example I have zero idea who you are. ^_^'

I more meant the early press copy - if Paradox Interactive can trust me with an NDA and stuff over their biggest game yet, it shouldn't be too difficult to have others to trust. Additionally I'm not necessarily going to be going first anyway, so that trust is less required, yes?

Are you allowed to sell the key? It seems like they would have a rule that you yourself have to use the key.

This presents two problems: normally you are not allowed to give away or sell journalist codes. And when you can as promo material, that is still one of the most common backstories scammers tell to maks keys bought with stolen credit cards. Meaning that even if you go first, the buyer is still to scared that the key may work, but it will either get revoked because of credit card fraud or because press keys sometimes get automatically revoked after a certain period.

You should take the advice from those above. Also if you do not bump your trade nobody will see it. Normally games of higher value take weeks to get a buyer (even when it is a decent deal) with constant bumping of the thread (at least a few times a day). Games that are sold quickly normally are cheap games from bundles or games that are vastly under market price

u can always sell it on G2A, wait 14 days for the money and buy keys there.(although the key prices change every day)

37$ = 33.54$ after fees.
which can net u 16 keys worst case.

not saying that's the best option , just worth mentioning.

The bottom line is, your key is worth what people will pay for it. If people wont pay 14 keys for it, it's not worth 14 keys.

the game is allready self in the nova edition 29 euro so really not worth to buy it with that risk from a stranger for 14 keys. And its paradox in less then 3 month for 50 % avaiable
