Thanks Nudiustertian! I played XCOM during the free weekend and absolutely loved it. But despite having the game in my wishlist still and syncing my account daily, it still shows up as existing in my account so haven't been able to enter any giveaways for it. Funny thing though, over the weekend when it was free, I was still able to enter any giveaways. It somehow changed this past Monday.
Anyways, really appreciate it.

As far as I've seen from other posts here on the forums those games don't count towards your account total as far as registering for the site goes which indicates that the site can at the very least differentiate between them and games you actually own.

I've got 20 valid entries now, including the 2 people who commented on the previous giveaway.
If it stays like this I may use my twenty-sided die to determine the outcome... but that doesn't seem likely. :-)

Not for entering the giveaway, but by all means, play on. :-) I've yet to try it myself.

Very nice what you are doing here. Thanks for it. Although I don't meet your requirements, I would like to have a chance to participate. I, indeed, started to download XCOM during free weekend but due to my very poor internet connection, in 2 days only managed to download half data for game. So, I was not able to play it at all. Anyway, it's your decision and I'll respect that. Thanks again for doing this.

If you never played the free game you can enter regular giveaways, so by all means do that.

Count me in. This is very kind of you!
Thanks a ton!

Count me out since I don't qualify, but good on you, dude, for being so fair! There's a special place in Heaven for peeps like you, so long as you stay away from killing baby seals. Whether you're religious or not, that's just a good rule of thumb to follow. That's just bad karma any way you look at it.
Anyway, to summarize my point: a) Good dude, b) Keep at it, and c) No baby seal killing.

OK, but three points are harder to remember than one, so I'm gonna have to boil it down to "no baby seal killing". That's easy enough since there aren't any where I live. But if I ever see baby seal steak in the supermarket, I'll be sure to walk on by.

Thanks, that's the quickest way to check that you don't qualify for this giveaway. If you are unable to enter regular giveaways even after syncing your account, please take it up with support -- the more people complain the sooner they'll look into any trouble, I hope.

I'm one of the unlucky ones :( . Thanks for what you're doing. Count me in!

So, I had a giveaway of XCOM: Enemy Unknown recently, but as it turns out quite a few people couldn't enter because the site thinks they own the game -- because they played it during the free weekend.
I contacted support and this is a bug in the Steam API that gives SG.com the list of games you own, so there's nothing they can do. If re-syncing your account doesn't help, the situation should resolve itself in a week or so as the game disappears.
This sucks, though, because people who actually tried the game are now being punished for it. So, I'm organizing a little giveaway on the side especially for you. The rules are as follows:
If this applies to you, post in this thread. Registration is open from now until Monday 14th at 06:00 UTC. Or thereabouts. The forum doesn't show exact times, so registration is over exactly when I say it's over. I will also edit this post when that happens.
I will tally the accounts and use random.org to pick a winner, who will be announced here. Copy will be sent through Steam whenever we're both online. Results are non-negotiable, offer void where prohibited, etcetera. :-)
Update: entering the giveaway has ended with 40 valid entries who qualify.
Congratulations orestisf, you're the winner!
