2025-01-07 - New code update!

I have updated the game with many improvements! See this post for details!

2025-01-02 - 2025 Edition Begins!

Hello everyone!
First of all Happy New Year to everyone, I wish you all a lovely 2025 <3

Back in 2020, I made the first version of the Nonogram Café, it was a lot of fun but it was quite tedious to create and play the puzzles.
A week ago I started looking at different alternatives online, and finally gave up, and made my own creator and player instead.
So I officially present to you my fully online, fully interactive nonogram player! ^^
Which comes with a nonogram creator, naturally. Look below for the link to it!

I will post a new nonogram weekly, leading to a giveaway each. Giveaways will end one week after the next for fun all year round!

Now you get to play; let's get cracking!™ ;)

Beautiful work. My first time solving a puzzle was very intuitive with only the mouse (Minesweeper veteran). :D
My only suggestion is to incorporate logins so gifters can correlate entrants with actual solvers a la Jigidi.

Even in this state, works really well.
If it's easy to implement, I'd like a choice of color(s), at least for the white background. Something that Jigidi has, with predefined colors, would be great.

Love nonograms!
Could you add thin lines every 5 rows/columns next to the numbers? The main grid itself has thicker lines every 5 rows/columns, but those kinda disappear as we make progress on the main grid.

Code Update - 2025-01-07

Following the feedback that I got, I have made various changes to better the solving and creation experience :).

Changes:

  • Added support for mobile (touch controls, buttons to undo, zoom, reset)
  • Automatic progress saving for multi-session solves
  • Improved dragging logic for cells (not overwriting cells that have been marked)
  • Dragging for hints (possible to toggle multiple hints of a single line)
  • Changed dots into red X for marking empty cells
  • Added instructions including rules, controls and hotkeys
  • Improved site's visual appearance (not that much because I suck at front-end haha)
  • All links open in new tabs

Thanks! It is now playable from phone! Just finished the latest one from there :)
I have a suggestion tho: can you change the number to gray if a row or column already has that number of cells highlighted? (And maybe change the color to red if it has a higher number)
Hope im making sense, hahah.

Thanks again!

is there a way to make right click not automatically have dragged X's defaulted when not holding the button down, a single tap of my right click(and not holding it) and swinging the mouse around will cover all not filled cells with X's(or clear the X's)? if I don't notice what I did it can cause me to fail to solve one.

Hello, RosimInc! Just finished with the 4 from week 2 to week 5 ☺️ Thank you very much for the giveaways and for making the app!
For the people that would like to do more (just because you like doing nonograms, like me) I recommend Pictopix (paid) and Picross Touch (free). They're both on Steam 😁

I like the new code. Other nonogram apps i've used, automatically grey out the numbers that you've filled in, but i imagine the coding for it could be interesting.

edit: Had to reset the puzzle, and then later accidentally hit the space bar, and it reset again. I assume this may be due to the last button being hit was reset?

Bump! It's difficult for a beginner, but it seemed easier to me than sudoku. Or is it easier in this version?

In general nonograms are easier than sudoku, but as the size of grids increase they can get quite complicated :)
I have a book of nonograms and I must admit I stopped at some point because I just wasn't able to solve them anymore xD
For now I'm not making them huge because I want the giveaways to be still accessible ^^
