Thanks, man! π It's great to have an interesting tool like the Dungeon Sandbox to experiment with my crazy ideas. ππ»

Hmmmm...I didn't think that you needed to log into anything since I made the folder open. But it IS OneDrive (which is, of course, made by Microsoft), so that's probably why you're being prompted. But at least it also means that if Microsoft is asking you to log in to your Microsoft account, it's also not a big deal. :) I think that they mostly do that because they will help keep track of edits on shared resources, which is actually a good thing (and totally necessary if you do open source stuff).
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm sorry but OneDrive is a very bad choice. To use it one has to create a microsoft account thus to let microsoft access your personal data... :(( and I'll never do it. I even permanently removed OneDrive not to see that nasty thing on my PC.
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand your not wanting to use it, but the accessing personal data thing just isn't true. And having a Microsoft account isn't any different than having a Google account (which is waaaaayyyy less secure, but no one seems to worry about that) or a Dropbox account or an Apple account, etc., etc. Just sayin'. :)
But, if you are that concerned with it, you can hit me up on IM and send me your picture and I'll copy it into the folder for you. ππ»

You don't need to "get" to them...just pay attention to what you see when you're near them... π
Comment has been collapsed.
Ha ha ha ha...I have talked to SErVER51 about this. I noticed this when I was playtesting and told him that we're guaranteed to get comments about it. π Yeah, I had to open the inventory, scroll quickly, and click on what I wanted.
But, here's some good news that I figured out. Once you get all of the way to the end and exit the dungeon, there is a treasure link on the winner screen, and THAT treasure inventory does not have the scroll issue on it. So just know that if it's ticking you off, just wait until you finish the whole thing, and then you can go through all of the GAs at your leisure without the list jumping around on you. In the meantime, I'll remind SErVER51 about the issue. He's always looking to improve things (for instance, I know that he's been working on improvements to the mini map, which is one of the biggest asks). It's just a matter of when he has time to work on it.
It's already fixed! Thanks, dude!!!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I discovered it myself on accident. When I did my previous dungeon, I didn't know how the treasure thing worked. That was good and bad, because I just stuck URLs behind stuff, and when you clicked the object, it just opened up. But then it didn't track how many you'd found and you also couldn't tell if you'd found something before. So the treasure aspect is definitely better. But when my inventory starting getting long from a lot of gibs, that's when I found it too. But SErVER has it all fixed up now, so now it shouldn't be so frustrating. This is like anything else...as soon as you start having a lot of people using the same software, you're bound to discover all sorts of things that need to be fixed up. I'm glad that he was able to get to it quickly. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I know at least 3 of them are...don't know about the rest yet.
Also, Canis has said there were plans for some extra gibs in comments too...I've seen one so far, but I'm betting that there will be more later.
Comment has been collapsed.
They've been adding them to comments on treasures found in the dungeon. π
Comment has been collapsed.
They're in the comments for the GA represented by treasure in the game. So, you can find all of those GAs in your inventory for any treasures you picked up during the game. Just go to your inventory and click on the GA you want to open, and it should open automatically in a new tab.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah, ok. When you're on the Dungeon Sandbox page, select the Halloween Dungeon and press the "Play" button again. It should bring you back to your victory screen that shows all of your stats once you exit the dungeon. There's a button there that looks like a trophy, and that will open up a window with all of your treasures in it.
If you have exited/completed the dungeon yet, you can always just play to re-enter the dungeon and open your inventory.
Comment has been collapsed.
Excellent! Anything else comes up, just ask away. Always glad to help. ππ»

I've done three so far, and that's mostly because I've only found four giveaways. As I find more I may add a couple more giveaways in the comments. :D
EDIT: I should probably mention that I'm pretty bad at dungeon-crawling... so there's no guarantee I will find more giveaways!

I don't know how to answer the tempest puzzle. I found what I'm assuming you are meant to find, but when I enter it in it doesn't work.
Also, I don't know what the switch that toothless ghost was guarding was supposed to open.
Comment has been collapsed.
The switch by the toothless ghost is one of two that you need to open the gate to the portal. The other one is behind the Tempest riddle.
The Tempest riddle is the exact quote from the play, and it sounds like you've found the answer in the maze. You don't need any punctuation in the middle (that's just to help you understand that there's a continuation of the phrase between the locations), so if you're putting that in there, take it out. It is not case sensitive, so you don't have to worry about that.
Comment has been collapsed.
I've been taking out the punctuation, and it still doesn't work 0_o
Edit : Never mind, NOW it works.
Comment has been collapsed.
Don't exit the dungeon if you are still looking for treasures! Once you exit, you'll get your current stats, and to re-enter, you'll have to start at the beginning (that's just how the Dungeon Sandbox works).
Sign in through Steam -- you can play anonymously, but if you want your progress to be saved (and the dungeon's pretty big, so let me tell you that, yes, this is something you definitely want to do), you'll need to be signed in
Estimated time for the average player is about 3-4 hours, but remember that you can leave and continue later.
I am confused from that sentences.
A the first you say we can't leave the dungeon or loose all progress and later you write that it is able to autosave and that we are able to leave and continue later.
What of it is now the truth ?
Comment has been collapsed.
The Dungeon Sandbox auto-saves while you are still in the dungeon playing. You can literally just suddenly close your browser, and the next time you come back and select "play" again, you'll be right where you left off (so long as you've registered and logged in with your Steam profile).
BUT, once you EXIT the dungeon (as in, found the final exit portal in the dungeon, not exiting your browser or tab), then you must re-start the game to enter again (i.e., you are entering at the beginning again).
BTW, the exit portal will be obvious. It looks completely different from the regular green portals. It's blue and has an outside scene that you can see in the middle of it.
Does that help explain it better?
Comment has been collapsed.
Great. :) Yes, I was talking about literally exiting the dungeon through the exit portal. You can close your browser while still playing any time and your progress will be saved.

You're welcome! I wonder which two you missed. When I did my speedrun last night for final testing, I missed one. I was so frustrated. I figured out when one it was, too, and it was just a brain fart. It was in a room that had multiple chests, and I just forgot to look at one wall. Aargh. I may go back in a couple of days and blast through the whole thing again just to say that I did a proper 100%. π π€
Comment has been collapsed.
Well at least I'm stuck in the right place. If you need me I'll be in a straight jacket with the other people.
Comment has been collapsed.
Where are you stuck? I'm happy to give not-too-specific-as-to-spoil-things hints. :)

In the psyche ward with the two baths that are past it

Baths? Not quite sure what you mean. Maybe a screen shot would help?

It autocorrect paths to baths. I figured it out i was over thinking it

Glad you got unstuck. Sometimes it's the simple puzzles that are the most confusing. Give people something tough (or what I think is going to be tough) to solve, and they blast right through it. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
The problem was it wasn't even a puzzle i was stuck on. I was just plain lost and didn't think of retracing my steps.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, there are a few places where once you've completed certain tasks or moved through an area a certain number of times (e.g., floor plate trigger for going into a room, talking to an NPC, then leaving the room), additional paths will open up...walls, gates, etc.
Comment has been collapsed.
The question wall may seem to have a Brit accent, but the word "bloody" may need to be taken a bit more literally. The hint is in the Psyche Ward somewhere and is visible as long as you're paying attention to your surroundings. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Glad that you liked it! So you found the treasure room before you solved that last bit in the Psyche Ward? Very interesting...
BTW, you have the new high score! Congrats!
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, you mean the area behind the big grate with the girl with the saw in her hand? Nope, that doesn't open up...it's just there for you to examine closely to find the password.
Yep, that portal is there just so you don't have to backtrack all of the way through the Psyche Ward. The next area that you need to explore (that has just opened up) is fairly close to the beginning, so this was me trying to help players reduce walking through a part of the dungeon they'd already finished. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Right, but there's more than one password in the game. I was just trying to establish your location, so I wanted to be sure that I'm giving you advice relative to the correct password. :)
Assuming that's the one and assuming that you're kind of doing things in order, you should be headed for the Doll House next. Yeah, I know that you've already been there to grab the doll head for Jason, but after you kill off Doc Chop-Chop and get through the rest of the Psyche Ward, more of the Doll House has opened up. If you haven't visited the Haunted Corridors yet, then the Doll House is definitely your next stop.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for the hint, wouldn't have fount it without it :D
Comment has been collapsed.
No worries...nothing worse than being stuck for a really long time. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
iΒ΄m to stupid . i can only find a 4letter word but that isnΒ΄t correct
Comment has been collapsed.
Here's another hint...it's not 4 letters. :)
Once you see it, it will be plain as day. Look for an area that you can't enter, but that is clearly significant...look closely...
Comment has been collapsed.
You're welcome, and congrats! Looks like you have the new high score (assuming that it's you...latest finisher didn't register, but got the high score, so deduction tells me that this is no coincidence ππ€)!
BTW...did you find the Easter Egg?
Comment has been collapsed.
Got 121/121, but didn't find the easter egg. I kind of forgot about looking for a secret room. X3 Oops.
Had to backtrack at the very end to do the psych ward secret room. Glad you posted that little hint above.
Oh, ran into a bug. The first psych ward door (left door) I unlocked and went in made my screen pitch black. I thought it was just how the room was. So I spent 10 minutes mapping it on grid paper by sound. LOL D&d players are used to those shenanigans. Finally just refreshed the page and went in a different door and it all loaded fine.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, you don't need to do the whole adventure to find the Easter Egg. It's actually pretty easy to discover if you read the Easter Egg section in the discussion thread. Major hint there. It'll probably only take you 5-10 minutes to find it starting from the beginning again, since you can probably blast through that first section in a minute or two. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Weird. I've never seen the Dungeon Sandbox do that before. I'll let SErVER know about it. What browser and OS are you using? Also what video card? Just curious as to the combo...sounds like a video error rendering the HTML5 in the browser (but I'm just guessing there). I've gone through that door at various points of completion and never had an issue. That's really bizarre. Thanks for the heads-up.
(Oh, and total LOL at the D&D comment...it's been a long time, but in my younger years, I played a lot. I was one of those guys with multiple dice sets, blah blah blah...still have a Gen 1 DM guide laying around here someplace π€.)
Comment has been collapsed.
I had the same problem, screen was totally black, not even the 5 option icons at the top. refresh fixed it. I am using the latest Firefox, not sure what video card, but it is an HP Zbook 15 laptop. I think it is using the built in Intel graphics, but it also has an Nvidia card that it can switch to.

Psych ward secret room?
Hmmm, I still haven't found it and almost finished the psych ward.
Past the bloody password already.....
Did I miss it again?
Comment has been collapsed.
Awesome event! I am really impressed. It must have been a ton of work too. Thank you for putting it together.
You mention that you shouldn't click "exit" because it will end your run. If I am logged in through steam and i close the tab will it retain my progress? Thank you for any info from anyone who knows.

Just WOW. Thank you a lot and Happy Halloween nyahaha!

Thanks. Took me a while and I backtracked a lot to cover every spot. Some nice puzzles in there!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, the Black Room takes a while to ensure that you got everything, especially since a couple of things appear along the way. And depending upon what order you do things in the Haunted Corridors, that can turn into a lot of walking if you're not careful. :)
Congrats on the 100%!
Comment has been collapsed.
thanks a lot for this dungeon had fun ! I missed 1 treasure, any way to know where (or in which section)? ;x or have to do it whole again?
Comment has been collapsed.
The only way to know what you missed is likely to compare the list of games you won with the full list of what's available. And yeah, if you exited, you have to do a whole new run. If it makes you feel better, when I did my end-to-end test the night before the event started, I missed exactly one as well...and that's how I figured out what I missed...by going back through the list until I found the one thing that I didn't have in it.
If you want to do that, IM me on Steam and I can get you a text list of all of the games. You can figure out what you missed and decide whether it's worth it or not. :) Also, I have exact coordinate locations for all of the treasures (because I'm that guy...and also, if you want something this complex to work, you have to take detailed notes, so spreadsheets are my friend π) and will consider sharing the location of the one missing thing for you over IM since you completed the adventure already.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks but I took 30 mins to do it again and found the one I was missing :) though, I see I have 121/121 treasures but some people got 122 on the leaderboard? XD (I found the easter egg I think and I "kept it" the whole dungeon ^^)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, the 122 was me fixing a bug with two chests getting "stomped on" by items that would transfer in to those locations. So, when I recreated the chests in new locations, some people had collected the treasure from the old chests already, then came back through that area and also got the one from the new chest. So my bug fix created a new issue. I'm going to see if SErVER51 can modify the data manually to alter those back to 121. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
How can I tell if I found all 121 without "exiting" the dungeon? I count 118 items in my inventory (including the keys) so does that mean I am missing 4 treasures?
Comment has been collapsed.
OK, have 122 items in inventory now, found the chests in a portal in the dark room that I missed first time around, and that had a switch to expose the last chest. So can I assume I found all treasures now (121 treasures plus keys in inventory)?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, if you have 121 actual GA items, then congrats, you've found them all!
Comment has been collapsed.
Cool! Thanks for the great challenge and GAs!
I uploaded my pic of the Easter Egg, did I do it correctly?
Thanks again!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, you did! And I've already moved it over to the private folder to help protect everyone's info. :)

UPDATE:
Wow! Well over NINE HUNDRED people played the dungeon! That's a lot more than I expected! Thank you to all of the players and key-givers for helping make this a successful event! And, as always, a big thanks to SErVER51 for creating the Dungeon Sandbox that makes things like this possible. π
I will be handling the bonus Easter Egg GA later today. I'm still determining some options. I'll update this thread with more info very soon, and will post the winner here as well as ping them in one of their own GA threads to ensure that they see it. If the winner doesn't respond in 48 hours, I move on to a second one, and so forth until the prize is claimed.
Misiu! Congrats! You're the Easter Egg GA winner!
Update: Misiu got back to me and selected her prize from the list! Congrats again!
Running stats:
All right, all of you smartasses (I have been laughing my butt off at all of the "placeholder" commentary...y'all are hilarious), the time is finally here. Welcome to...
Grez's Halloween 2019 Dungeon Adventure!
That's right, instead of a regular ol' train, you get to play an adventure game created with SErVER51's Dungeon Sandbox! As you play through the adventure, you'll find treasure chests with loot that will link you to invite-only SteamGifts GAs.
I had done a similar event earlier (back in February of this year), and learned a lot from it. So, I really pulled out the stops on this one and put in as much content as I could before my deadline hit. Some quick notes:
Here's how it works
There are 121 GAs in total throughout the dungeon. As mentioned earlier, the more obstacles you pass, the better on average that the GAs become. Don't exit the dungeon (via the exit portal -- it's obvious and looks different from the regular portals) if you are still looking for treasures! Once you exit, you'll get your current stats, and to re-enter, you'll have to start at the beginning (that's just how the Dungeon Sandbox works). Speaking of treasures, I want to thank some people. I provided 96 GAs (originally, it was 85, but I got crazy last night to make the treasure room look like I wanted and bought a few more π), which means that 25 of the GAs in here were graciously donated by other people. A big "thank you" to D3D (DripleD), seNs, Hiro, nazamout, c_e_e_b_e_r_s, and B{+}mbakl@ts for their contributions to the event!
The GAs will run for three weeks, meaning that they end mid-day on November 1st (All Hallow's Day), US Central time. That will give you lots of time to complete the adventure and just enjoy it without feeling rushed. I'll leave the dungeon open after the GAs are done in case anyone wants to continue exploring or use it for ideas for their own event.

Easter Egg Bonus GA
So, I got a little crazy at the last minute and decided to add an Easter Egg to the dungeon. Trust me, you'll know it when you find it. How do you find it, you may ask? Well, remember my commentary above about not liking useless hallways that go nowhere, etc. There may or may not be an old-school hidden room behind a clickable or penetrable wall. But if it looks like there should be something there but there isn't...well, you should start checking closely.
When you find the Easter egg, take a screen shot and save it! You can save your screen shots to a shareable folder I made on my OneDrive here. Please format the name as "YourSGName_EESS." I'll be checking file size, time stamps, etc., so no fair sending a screen shot for a friend to use. Let's make this fair and honest. After the event is done, I will use a random number generator against the list of people that found the Easter Egg to do a special bonus GA for that select group! I don't even know what the GA is yet, but it will be something pretty decent.
Note: there were some concerns about the OneDrive shared folder and being able to view people's details in the file attributes and link this back to their SG id (since it's part of the file name). That's the way that file sharing works (because you have to be able to tell if someone else has edited your file, etc.) and in fact all major file sharing that provides folders (like Dropbox, etc.) works like this. But, I totally get the concern, so I've created a private folder and am only using the shared folder for uploads. As the files come in, I'm moving them to the private folder so that no one can look at the file attributes of anyone else's screen shot.
Best of luck finding the Easter Egg!
Trivia
P.S. Be sure to check the comments in the GAs for chances at additional games! Dys has added bonus GAs to every GA outside of the treasure room! That's 61 additional GAs!
