50%? Minecraft is 30 bucks now?? I know they fused both versions and you can only buy them together now, but didn't know it was that expensive...

Yikes, I didn't know that either. Forcing you to buy both versions to pad the price and sales of both is pretty shady...

Their argument was that a lot of people don't know the difference, and don't know that it's not crossplay, so would be disappointed when buying the wrong version to play with friends. The two versions also have slightly different features. Buying both at the same time removes the issue... But I still think they should have left a single buy option.
On the up side though, they gifted Bedrock to old Java owners and the other way round.

minecraft was $13 when it was in alpha (June 30 – December 3, 2010), and $18 when it was in beta (December 20, 2010 – November 11, 2011), java was $29.99 at launch

so $15 now is very good, if you somehow are in 2024 without minecraft

But, well. 15 is nice yes, I didn't say the contrary, it's the full price being 30 that surprised me.
