Do you agree? There are way too many entries that are open for everyone.
This site should reward those who give away some of their games.

I see what you did there :D

I think it should be very low by default, something like 1-5 dollars.

No it should be 30.01 good idea. I think this should be implemented. All hail Stark91 for the 30.01 idea!

Agree, with 30.01 CV.

Comment has been collapsed.

That would be the only logical default value, I guess... However, I liked SG a lot more when they added whole bundles to the list of games, then there was no limit of how much CV you can earn from giving away bundles, as long as you're okay receiving the amount you actually paid for the bundle.

People obviously got greedy and abused that by giving away keys to the bundle disguised as one of the games worth the most... This is why we as a human race can not have nice things.

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention, a lot of great bundled indie games will never again be given away, because of this. People seem to be put off when they actually pay 10-20$ for a game and it is not added to their CV, because of the fact that some douchebags disrespected the system.

Can you give an example of am indie game that has been given away less after becoming bundled? I know some people get mildly annoyed when they bought games and held onto them for later giveaways only to find that they are being included in a bundle, but it seems like after each bundle the home page is flooded with bundle giveaways. There are also people who hold onto bundle keys to give away later.

I obviously did not mean that they are instantly given away less... At first the game is flooded at such a fast rate that SG usually experiences overloads and is hardly usable for the first 2-3 days. However after 2-4 months (my estimation, feel free to check the statistics graphs for certain games if you wish) the game is given away much less than it was before.

Not many people gave Bastion away when it was for $1 in the debut Humble Weekly Sale compared to when it was actually in a bundle, despite Bastion being one of the top tier downloadable games released in the last half decade.

There's a thing called contributer giveaways.

Yeah, the point is it should be a mandatory requirement, not an option.

I think it should be up to those who are giving the games away to decide how open they want it to be.

its pretty much the only time "noob" is a valid counter
(be here a little while and you'll see that isn't the point of steamgifts)

So, you don't have any credibility. It's weird for you to jump in and ask everyone to stop being generous to people who don't have money.

And how much credibility would steamgifts have if they made people give away a game as soon as you arrived. Hardly any new people would come.

Yup. If it were a site that makes it hard for new people to get gifts then I would just give games away on Facebook. Although I'm doing that right now because I'm promoting a Facebook page. I've already given away 10 games there.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, although i do get your line of thinking i think it should not be featured. I love how steamgifts is for everyone, i'd rather see it stay that way. In the end there are a lot of giveaways that require contribution value as well and not to mention that these games are usually a tad better then most giveaways.

If the entries are open for everyone, it is because the gifter choose to do so. I see no reason for people not to be able to gift freely if they so choose.
