I bought one for myself...and 5 as gifts. :P I don't even think I'll keep one for myself though.

It's possible. Although, I don't think I'd make any profit on reselling games that I purchase. Especially, when I already buy them near full price anyway. :/

That is extremely odd, making you explain your purchase like that. I wonder what would have happened if it wasn't "fine" lol

They probably would've tracked me down and made me explain myself! :( "I'll never tell you why I buy multiple copies! NEVER!!"

Can you explain why that is? I don't resell any games or anything, but I'm curious as to why they're picky by those who do? Are they afraid of competition?

Yeah, I've bought from various sites and in multiple quantities before, and was never asked about any of my purchases. Then, all of a sudden, I feel like I'm being interrogated why I buy more than one copy of games. Weird people.

That would be quite the circle of information. :P All the keys are valid though (in my Steam inventory), so at least I don't have to worry about that. The weird thing is, I've bought several times before and was never asked about my purchases. I think that rep was just a nosy Nancy or looking to start shit with me.

I think it's odd that websites that resell keys and game the system question people when they try to resell their keys and game the system. I guess they know what they're doing to the people who make games, but they don't mind until someone tries to undercut them.

That's true. People only get butthurt when you catch on to their games. Although, I don't resell the keys I buy. I simply get a copy for myself and keep the rest until I see if a friend is looking for X game or until I feel generous enough to gift it away randomly. I pay 80-85% of the MSRP on Steam, so I wouldn't exactly make any real profit. Plus, even if I tried to sell it on eBay or whatever, I'd get royalty fees. :/

It might be another reason, they might have suspected that you had bought a lot of copies with a stolen credit card. There have been cases in the past where people have bought a lot of keys with one, and unlike more "reputable" sellers, the key sellers can't really do anything about it once the keys are gone.

Hey guys,
So I got a pretty weird story to share tonight. Today, I bought a game from a reputable third party online store (I won't mention the store's name, but it's well known). Actually, I bought multiple copies. After making the transaction and all that jazz, I get an e-mail from one of the reps about 10-15 minutes later. The e-mail was sent asking me why I bought so many copies if I only need one copy to play the game.
I was kind of nervous being asked such a weird question, so I replied, "Well, I don't want to play alone so I got a few copies for some friends to play with." and then he replies "But it's a single player game. There is no multiplayer on the game.". When I read that, I thought to myself "Wow! He's good! :O", so I quickly pulled something out of my ass and replied, "Oh, I know the game has no online co-op, but we just want to play as a group so we can trade items and stuff like that.". His final reply to me was, "Okay. That's fine." and then he never replied back to my e-mail.
All that kept going through my head after that was, "That's fine? That's fine?! What does he mean, 'That's fine.'?!?! What, is it illegal to buy multiple copies for Steam games now? Why do you give a shit why I buy so many copies!". So, that's my story. It was quite a weird experience, and the only time I've ever been asked why I purchased multiple copies of a game. :/
Has this sort of thing ever happened to you guys and gals?
