Any good free video editing softwares?

Im looking to making montages and as most of us should know windows movie maker is worse at making montages then i am at cooking but everything is so high priced i mean adobe after effects CS6 is 610$ on amazon any ideas for any good free software?

Well, every video software is 'free', just look around. :)

Kdenlive is great, not sure if it runs on Windows though, but it is free.

Lightworks. It has steep learning curve but it's the best you can get for free (you have to register on their site though).
