It should say something like, "DRM: Steamworks (This game requires installation of a free third party client)", if it is for Steam. If it isn't for Steam, it will say, "DRM [INSERT DRM HERE]".

It depends on the game. Usually somewhere on the sale page it will say Steam if it's a Steam key.
For example, on XCOM:
If it doesn't say Steam on the sale page, it's not a Steam version.

And this is one of the most important details you're going to want to look for (if DRM is an issue for you) - if it ways Capsule or Origin, etc... then it's not going to work on Steam - you need to see Steam or Steamworks. In addition, you can also check Steam's Support Page to see if a key for that game actually redeems on Steam - although I don't know how often this is updated... it looks like it's missing a mess of games.
