A little advice for you here. You have a number of yes/no questions, you could've grouped them all into a single multy-choice (checkboxes) question.
Bump, btw.

Thank you for filling the survey!
I guess I have to call myself Balinese now, lol.

Well, if you plan to visit Indonesian beaches you can ask me about it, lol.
One of the major gripe in visiting Indonesia smaller islands is that there are seasons, on some seasons the sea is rough (usually the wave could reach 2-3 meters) but on other season the sea is very calm, like a big blue carpet. If you wanted to visit Indonesia on September just contact me, I would ask around for the best beaches in September.
From the list, Raja Ampat is best visited on November to February.
Takabonerate could be your option, as it is great to be visited from August to the end of the year.
Komodo Islands is good from June to August, but other times still pretty good.

Nice and quick survey. Your hypothesis must be well attuned if you can get answers from so few questions. Just be careful that on SG you are dealing with a very particular demographic (as shown already by the % male).
Edit : And don't forget that income value depends on region so you'll have to accommodate.

Yes, this is just a pre-test. I wanted to know the general makeup first before creating a more robust survey. Yes, it's a concern too, thus I will run more tests at other places. Thank you for your input!

The major problem for Indonesian tourism is that everybody knows about Bali, but only a small number of them know about other places in Indonesia, which may be more interesting than Bali. As an islands nation, we have 13,000+ islands, thousands of beaches and possible diving spots, yet only Bali get the spotlight for foreign tourism in Indonesia.
Well, I might have heard of most of those places you pointed out, just not in English because it is not my native language. However, I looked up every single one of them after answering, and I must say they are beautiful. I wish I could get to know those places myself, and if I ever get the opportunity, I'll surely think about them first before those places you say are packed with people.
Here in Brazil we have the same exact problem. Have you ever heard of Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro? Chances are you'll say yes, you and more than half of the world will say yes and be there by tomorrow. But how about the beautifully deserted Praia Brava, Trindade, Paraty (one of my personal favorites)? Chances are you're gonna say "What the flip is that place?"
So I feel you. I'd like people to get to know Arquipélago Fernando de Noronha more than those polluted sick popular beaches we have here.
So I'm glad you proposed us that survey. To me, answering it was as important as I bet our answers are to you.

Yes, you are right, what the flip is that place?
I know about Copacabana in Rio, but never even heard about places you mentioned. Especially Fernando de Noronha, very beautiful place.
If I went to Brazil someday, I am sure I would prefer these kind of beaches rather than beaches packed with people. There is nothing more relaxing than getting your body hammered by waves while listening to the sounds of the sea (and not listening to some loud music people may brought with them)

Thanks for filling out the survey!
The expensive way to go to Komodo Island (which everybody seems to take) is go to Bali and hire a full-service yacht for few days visit to Pulau Komodo.
The cheap and better way is directly fly to Komodo Island (transiting in Bali) and take local guide. I can refer you to some local guides that I personally knew, if you are interested. Going local guides is definitely cheaper, but the facilities are more spartan, so it's up to you.

With a quick glance at your results, a majority of the surveyed people are europeans living with an income of less than 2200€. That group of people seldom travel to distant locations such as Indonesia and have a decent basic education to be aware of the major islands, hence the results.
Good luck with your project! It's always fun to see SG being used as a test group for school projects! I did that once, just didn't explain clearly enough to my teacher what SteamGifts was but it went well regardless.

Done! Thank you for the giveaways.
Not much of a tourist, by the way, though I do have a fair bit of knowledge about the world. But my surly, crippled ass would much rather stay at home. xD

Considering the long Dutch-Indonesian history our travel agencies offer a lot of Indonesia trips.
Glancing at one of their websites now it shows trips to Bali, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Langkawi and Komodo (and a couple of the other small Sunda Islands). I have been to Sumatra before, combined it with a trip to Kuala Lumpur.
I think Indonesia shows up in history class in highschool too here, but I forgot due to too much gaming. ^^"
I also visited the Maldives, it was like a bonus trip after a few weeks on Sri Lanka.
Good luck on your research!

Hi folks.
Recently I am embarking on a research for my studies. The research is about how foreign tourists (people outside Indonesia) know about Indonesia, and what is the reason they are visiting Indonesia. The majority of our visitors came from Singapore, Australia, and lately China.
On the other hand, I also run a parallel research on how Indonesians themselves know about other places beside Bali. Similar with foreign tourists, most Indonesians also visit Bali for holiday, but not visiting other places. To be exact, southern areas of Bali such as Kuta and Sanur are tightly packed with people, while a short one hour drive to the north will land you at Padang padang, a beach famous for surfing activities, yet only have smaller number of visitors. A few hours drive again to the north, there will be lots of other places, beaches, and other spots.
Thus, this particular survey have the goal, whether it is confirmed that foreign tourists have limited knowledge about other places beside Bali, or rejected that particular hypothesis.
