I know that feeling, my birthday was last week. My parents have refused to give me birthday presents for all my life because it was so close to Christmas and nowadays nobody comes to my birthday parties because there are too many other events and parties and general stress around christmas time...

Yeah, I know the feeling. I had my 21st birthday many years ago on 13th December thinking that my friends would come. I wasn't expecting anything really, just wanted a night out with my friends and family to celebrate. Almost no one showed up except some of my aunts, younger cousins, some of my parent's friends and that one friend who has always been there for me. They sent texts on the night to say they couldn't come, instead of letting me know in advance that they weren't coming, which would have been the respectful thing to do. Since then, I have never bothered with my birthday. They were like "Are you having a 30th?" Nope. Didn't happen. Wasn't going to give people that opportunity again. =)
It is one of those things I look back now and laugh about though.

I'm with you there. Both 2018 and 2019 were nightmares to me. I've been unemployed for the most part, I can possibly lose my house because of my asshole dad and things are looking pretty grim in my country. I can only hope things will get better in 2020.
