Indeed, ads can be localized, but this one sure looks like malware.
Regarding the loading speed of SG: I noticed it's much quicker to click the main page again than using the back button. Not sure why that is; the latter should be faster, so I guess some optimization could be done there.

Any site that uses databases can be a total bitch where resources are concerned - if it offends you so much, go offer to assist with hosting costs. If I remember right, they're moving over to new hardware soon anyway, so hopefully it'll increase the connections/speed.

They already did in December.
Now we have long loading times/timeouts instead of "couldn't connect to database". :/

Yeah, it got postponed though, I think it's slated for the 6th now. I'd assumed the longer loading times now are possibly a result of having made adjustments to address the connection/db errors that were breaking the whole site.

I never have annoying ads on my side. By the way, the server thing is also on your side. :)

I suspect malware in your case. Malware that interferes with the working of your computer will give you unwanted ads as well as slow down your screen refresh.

Well, it could also be linked to the problems with Steam Community. If you're able to use Steam Community without any trouble and you're still getting this, then I don't know what it is.

I get this too. It is very annoying and only started happening recently like around the time the winter sale started. And this ONLY happens for me on Steamgifts and today for the first time, steam store. Other websites all load perfectly fine.

While it has been slower, it hasn't been that slow for me. SG has been operating at normal levels for this time of year as far as I can tell.
Steam, on the other hand, has had a few hiccups.

I need to refresh a minimum of 5 times to open a page on this site. It's not enough that you spam my screen with ads like this?. How many more ads you will put on the screen so we can get a good server?
/I refreshed a few times to be able to post this.
