I'm not talking about discounts or sales. So if, lets say, Assassins Creed 3 basic edition now costs 50 bucks, can it go as low as 20 bucks for example?

Not really. It took very little for saints row 3 and the darkness 2 to drop.

THQ was not involved in developing nor publishing darkness 2.

Even better. Do you think it was $9.99 when it was released?

Dont know, honestly. Its just a year since I stopped pirating.

The answer is no. AAA games are typically $50-60 when they are released, and the price gradually drops over time.

is this accurate? because most games go f2p after many many years.

Well that chart was built from a database of console games, but it's still pretty applicable.

As for chart, it's pretty accurate.

I don't know where you are getting your statistics but I'm fairly certain that most games don't go free to play.

that must be for disc games, I sold a bunch of my SNES/NES games for $20-30

It's an average. While Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, etc fetched you some money, there tons of copies of Shaq-Fu, Bebe’s Kids, American Gladiators, Madden football, and other junk games.

A place in my town is selling Link to the Past for $50, and they can't even hold onto the damned things. Meanwhile, they got a ton of the gold cartridge Zelda games and they can't sell 'em at $20 a pop.

No, why would you think that?

Games used to only be $19.99, then Steam started charging $59.99 since they almost went bankrupt.

of course they can. for example max payne 3 price dropped recently by 20 euro. It depend from company how fast price go down. Bethesda keeps prices same for long time after release, while thq or square enix lower then really fast.

Activision drop prices like everyone else, as long as it's not called Call of Duty.

Hell, they might drop prices even faster then anyone else, since they publish really medicore games in last years - after checking their wiki I didn't found anything in last few years I'd remember as gem. If it weren't for CoD (and probably WoW too, since they are somewhat merged with Blizzard, so I'm guessing they take some money from that source too) they would be in worse situation then THQ.

Sure, else you would only see games that cost $60. It depends on the developer/publisher to make the price.

Exactly why you see Spore, Darkspoore and The Sims 3 still at full retail, 3 years later.
